The Lunar Awakening event is currently active in Diablo 4, and you have until February 26 to complete it. The event has already been part of the game in past years, and gives players on both Eternal and Seasonal realms a chance to celebrate the Lunar New Year and grab some exclusive rewards.
Before we get started with all the farming tips, here is a short reminder on how the event works: Every Shrine in Sanctuary is now a Lunar Shrine, offering 2 minutes of 100% bonus experience, extra power, and Ancestral Favor Reputation when activated.
Each shrine type comes with its own special effect:
- Artillery Shrine – Chance to summon a holy bomb
- Blast Wave Shrine – Explosions trigger cluster bombardments
- Channeling Shrine – Faster attacks and cooldown resets
- Conduit Shrine – Frequent, powerful, shocking strikes
- Greed Shrine – Treasure Goblins appear on kills
- Lethal Shrine – Chance to instantly execute monsters
- Protection Shrine – Reflects incoming damage
On top of that, Miserly Spirits spawn instantly after clicking on a shrine, which helps you make the most of each shrine’s bonuses immediately.
Fastest Farming Tips
With all the games releasing right now, you might not have time to farm Diablo 4 for endless hours just for event cosmetics. But, there is actually a really fast way to get it all done in less than an hour!
Players have found that the event can be completed in under an hour if you plan your route a specific way:
- Mount Up – Travel quickly from shrine to shrine. Start with Helltide, then hit the other map regions. Most regions spawn 2-3 awakened shrines.
- Merc Setup – Equip Subo as your merc to speed-clear mobs while the shrine effects are active, maximizing your Ancestral Favor gain.
- Use Nightmarish Dungeon Sigils (Optional) – Sigils with shrine affixes can spawn Lunar Shrines, though the yield per minute is usually lower than open-world farming. Players report running 2-3 minute dungeon sigils as a backup method.
Farming the event will reward cosmetics, a
Resplendent Spark, runes, and an assortment of legendary gear.
The lunar event itself is a bit underwhelming, but the rewards are definitely worth it, especially since you can get it all done in a short amount of time. So mount up, plan your route, and keep Subo at your side to clear mobs efficiently. Every second counts while the shrine bonuses are active. Mix in dungeon sigils if you want extra shrine spawns, and do not forget to check your loot and Ancestral Favor (Lunar rep board in Ked Bardu) often so you can trade for the coolest cosmetics and mounts before the event ends.
With a little planning, the entire Lunar Awakening event can be completed in under an hour, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the rewards.
Trading Your Ancestral Favor
Head to the Lunar Night Market in Ked Bardu to trade your Ancestral Favor for a variety of gifts. There are 10 Reward Levels, including the Trag’Oul’s Consort mount and six cosmetics (including a body tattoo/art). Even if you missed previous Lunar events, you can unlock all rewards this year.
