Another week, another Tower leaderboard update in Diablo 4, and not much has changed. With the Tower still in beta, most high-level players already hit their peak and are focusing on other content. But one thing that did catch the community’s eye is the evidence of cheating at the very top.
Rank One Mystery – Impossible Times and Hidden Gear
A recent video from Slaydra highlighted the rank one player reaching a timer that is impossible in the game. The player managed to extend the Tower timer well beyond the 10-minute limit, giving them an obvious advantage. Being first with a 17-minute timer is a little bit weird.

On top of that, if you go to view his profile, you will not be able to do it. This means that he is intentionally hiding his profile. He does not want people to know what he is doing because, obviously, he would get disqualified if people found out. We are talking about bugged or exploited items with multiple GA affixes stacked in ways the game never intended.
In many cases, in Diablo 4, cheating is not about skill but about access to “impossible gear.” Some players exploit game mechanics to transfer buffs across characters. This is not accidental. It is a calculated way to reach the top of the charts. Many also buy perfect gear from other players against real money, and as a reminder, this is not allowed, and you can get banned for it.
Not only does this disrupt competition, but it also explains why some players skip the Tower entirely. Why grind for leaderboard points when the top spots are already held by someone who is not playing fair?
Cheating Is Not New in Diablo
Of course, none of this is actual proof that anyone is cheating. Some players hide their profiles because they do not want other people to copy their builds. However, this is not the first time it has happened. The Gauntlet had a similar issue where it was proven that the top-ranking players were indeed cheating by using exploits or buying gear with real money. And those were hiding their gear as well.
Right now, Diablo 4 does not have that many different builds that can rank high in the Pit or the Tower, so even if everyone’s profile is shown automatically, chances are most people are already playing the same build anyway.
The beta status of the Tower means there are no permanent rewards yet, so technically, no one “wins” anything aside from bragging rights. But this situation is a reminder that Blizzard may need to make profiles public and monitor exploits closely.
Hidden profiles make it easier for cheaters to fly under the radar, and if they ever add rewards to the leaderboards, this is something they will have to take care of.
How to Approach the Tower Right Now
For now, do not let the leaderboard discourage you. Blizzard has a history of banning accounts in waves, so if players are really cheating, it should eventually be taken care of. Tower beta is a test ground, and the leaderboards you see today may look very different in a few weeks.
Once the Tower is completed, it should be easier to progress inside it and bypass cheaters.
For now:
- Focus on your own progress
- Keep your gear legit; cheating will always backfire
- Watch the leaderboard, but take the rankings with a grain of salt
Leaderboards do not define the Tower experience right now. As long as it is in Beta, use that time to test out the feature, send your feedback over to Blizzard through the game or the forum, and remember to have fun.
There is still plenty of challenge and strategy to enjoy, and the real reward is testing your skills, not just topping a chart. Remember that being rank 1 only has value if you reached it through your own means.
