We are only a few weeks into Season 12, but a growing number of Diablo 4 players are starting to feel frustrated and defeated.
Throughout social media, the same message has been coming up more and more often. Players are asking each other if Diablo 4 Season 12 is much harder than expected, especially with the new Bloodied content. But is that really a problem, or is it exactly what the game needed? Well, that depends on who you ask.
“I Keep Getting One-Shot”
A lot of players are struggling early this season, even on lower difficulty tiers.
This has always happened to some extent, especially for newer or returning players. This time, though, it feels more frustrating. Much of it comes from the new “Bloodied” content, especially boss keys and special encounters. Even on lower Torment levels, players report getting overwhelmed quickly, sometimes instantly.
The complaints are pretty consistent: frequent one-shots (even on T1), bosses that feel much stronger than their tier suggests, the Butcher showing up more often and adding extra pressure, and not enough materials to adjust builds quickly.
For Diablo 4 fans coming from previous seasons, where power scaling was much faster, these changes feel especially rough.
According to players, Season 12 activities are not really tuned to your current difficulty, but closer to something above it. If normal T1 content feels manageable, but T1 Bloodied bosses do not, it creates confusion more than a fair challenge.
If you are struggling, a big part of it may come from how Bloodied content scales above your current tier.
Some Say This Is Exactly What the Game Needed
Not everyone sees it as a problem.
A good part of the player base welcomes the higher difficulty. Previous seasons felt too fast and too easy, and Season 12 finally slows things down again.
For them, this means:
- Content that cannot be cleared in a few days
- A real sense of progression
- Endgame goals that feel earned
There is also a common argument that keeps coming up, which is that not all content is meant to be cleared immediately. Bloodied activities are something you work toward, not something you farm right away.
Growing Gap Between Players
What this shows is that Season 12 is exposing a gap between players that now feels much more obvious. Players running optimized builds report far fewer issues, with many already clearing high-end content. More casual players, on the other hand, are hitting a wall much earlier.
That brings back an old question:
Should the game be balanced around top-tier builds?
Or should more playstyles be viable at higher difficulty?
Part of this may also come from the last two seasons, which pushed player power much higher. By comparison, Season 12 feels more restrained. Some players even admit that the game might not be harder; they just got used to it being easier.
So, if you feel like you are getting destroyed, you are definitely not alone.
