Why Is There Still No Real Halloween Event for Diablo 4?

It is Halloween season, so naturally players are wondering where the spooky fun went. As of now, fans are once again noticing that there is still no real Halloween event in Diablo 4 Season 10, even though the gothic setting feels made for it.

Across platforms like Reddit, the official forums, and social media, players say they expected at least some themed content – pumpkins in towns, a haunted treasure goblin, or even a short event quest. Instead, all we got are the ongoing double XP and double gold bonuses, along with the seasonal currency boost. You can read more about that here.

Missed Opportunity For A Perfect Setting

The general mood is frustration, with players pointing out that games like Guild Wars 2, The Division 2, and even smaller titles manage to add fun, temporary Halloween events every year. Diablo 4, with its dark and gothic world, feels like the perfect match for that kind of seasonal content.

There are even jokes going around that Blizzard missed a free win by not reviving season 2’s “Vampire Tide” or by refusing to add something as simple as pumpkin decorations around Kyovashad. Plenty of players suggested a Halloween treasure goblin or themed cosmetics that could be earned instead of bought.

However, as is always the case, everything has two sides to it, so naturally, a few Diablo fans argued that Halloween events can break immersion, but most of us players agreed that even a short, lore-friendly event would have helped keep players engaged.

Growing Frustration Around MTX And Monetization

On Reddit, this thread (see below) quickly turned from disappointment to criticism of Diablo 4’s microtransactions and the in-game shop pricing. Players say cosmetic prices have gone beyond “micro,” with $20 or more for single outfits. Some even started calling them “Mega Transactions.”

Several comments mentioned that Blizzard’s Mother’s Blessing (the double XP event) feels like a bare-minimum gesture to avoid giving away any paid items. Many players wish Blizzard would simply unlock some premium cosmetics as temporary rewards during holidays, which would cost them nothing to make.

A Frustrated But Still Hopeful Community

Even though there are a lot of complaints, the largest number of players are still here simply because they enjoy the core game. The disappointment comes mostly from the sense that Diablo 4 could do more, especially around events that bring people back together. A small Halloween surprise could have gone a long way in showing goodwill.

As one player wrote: “Even a pumpkin in Kyovashad would’ve made me smile.”

For now, the community will settle for the current double reward events, but the hope is that next year, Sanctuary might finally get the spooky celebration it deserves.
