If you play Zenless Zone Zero, you know who is coming this week! Yes, we are talking about Starlight Billy and his absolutely sick, insanely cool, straight-up illegal-levels-of-awesome motorcycle! As of right now, HoYoverse just dropped Starlight Billy’s official EP, and it is exactly as chaotic as you expected.
The video fully embraces Billy’s “Starlight Knight” obsession, turning the entire thing into a ridiculous comic-book-style stage performance where Nicole has second thoughts about murdering Billy or not, and the Proxy is forced into chaotic, weird dances. And of course, Billy gets the overdramatic hero moments.
Compared to the original A-Rank Billy, this new S-Rank version fully embraces the action hero fantasy.
And honestly, the motorcycle alone already looks like it is worth it.
Starlight Billy Is Basically Billy Turned Up to 200%
Gameplay-wise, Starlight Billy is an S-Rank Physical Rupture Agent focused entirely on aggressive on-field DPS. His kit revolves around:
- Consuming HP to increase damage
- Building Determination
- Constantly staying on the offensive
- Dealing massive DMG
Unlike many DPS Agents, Billy is designed to feel fast, aggressive, and forgiving. And somehow, despite constantly draining his own HP, he is also surprisingly hard to kill thanks to lifesteal, self-healing, and damage reduction at low HP.
So yes, the man literally heals himself while drifting around on a motorcycle, shooting everything in sight.
Starlight Billy Guide and Best BuildsHis Timing Is Problematic
The issue is not really Billy being strong or not. Because honestly, he will be very strong.
The bigger problem is when he releases.
Starlight Billy arrives right before Season 3. This season introduces the entirely new Wind element, along with upcoming Wind-focused agents and likely Wind-weak enemies. On top of that, many players have already invested heavily into Ye Shunguang, who is still considered one of the best Physical DPS Agents currently available.
That means Billy ends up in a somewhat awkward position:
- If you already own Ye Shunguang, Billy does not massively change your account
- If you are planning ahead for Season 3, saving may simply be smarter
- His current team options are also somewhat limited due to the lack of dedicated Rupture supports. Similar to all the other Rupture Agents, his best team does involve Dialyn and Lucia, so if you are already playing a Rupture Agent, it is going to be hard to share between the two
So, Is Starlight Billy Worth Pulling?
Honestly, this feels like one of those banners where the answer depends almost entirely on what you like. If you enjoy:
- Aggressive gameplay
- Constant action
- Sustain-heavy DPS
- Cool animations
- Cool motorcycles
- Billy being Billy
Then you should absolutely go for it.
But from a pure meta perspective, it is probably wiser to prioritize the upcoming Season 3 Wind characters instead.
Still, after watching the EP, there is a very good chance a lot of players are going to pull for him anyway, purely because the guy is just ridiculously entertaining. And the bike, the bike is worth it.
