Neverness to Everness is launching on April 29, and if you have been keeping an eye on it, there is quite a lot going on in this game. Between its open-world systems, unusual gacha mechanics, and urban setting, it is not exactly your typical gacha, so here is what you should definitely know before jumping in!

And if you want even more details about the game, you can already check out our New Player guide as well! The following information comes from content creator Nia, who spent multiple hours playing through the latest Beta!

What to Expect Day One

The game launches on PC, PS5, and mobile, with a likely early morning release in Europe (around 4 AM Paris time), but this was not officially confirmed yet, so take the time information with a grain of salt.

China gets access earlier on April 23, but servers are separate, so it will not affect global progression. What it does mean, though, is that early issues could get fixed before the worldwide launch. If any main bug or anything like that comes up on the Chinese version, it might already be fixed by the time the game releases globally.

There is also a livestream on April 18, expected to go over gameplay updates, monetization, and changes from the beta, so you should definitely check that out. We will also make a recap on Icy Veins for you, so stay tuned!

Not Your Usual Gacha Game

Neverness to Everness is still an open-world gacha, but what makes it stand out is where and how it is set up.

You are dropped into Hethereau, a modern city where supernatural anomalies are just part of daily life. Instead of exploring fantasy regions, you are dealing with weird incidents happening right in the middle of a modern urban environment. A lot of players call it a mix between Yakuza and GTA, and they are not really wrong.

You play as an Appraiser, someone tasked with investigating the anomalies. Some are minor disturbances, others are far more dangerous, but either way, your job is to track them down and deal with them.

It still mixes in free exploration, characters, and combat systems you would expect from a gacha, but it also adds things like car races, a new gacha system, slice-of-life activities like Mahjong, multiplayer activities, skins, and more!

Combat and Team Play

Combat is fast and reactive, and pretty much similar to any other gacha active action combat:

  • Team of 4 characters
  • Basic Attack, Skill, and Ultimate ability
  • Dodge and parry mechanics
  • Character swap combos
  • Team-based rotations

You equip your characters with weapons called Arcs and equipment called Consoles, and each character has a specific element called “Esper“. You will have the possibility to charge characters’ Esper Meter to create unique and powerful reactions.

The Gacha System Might Be the Biggest Selling Point

This is where things get interesting. The game does not use a 50/50 system, meaning limited characters are guaranteed once you hit pity.

  • Soft pity: ~70 pulls
  • Hard pity: 90 pulls
  • Higher base rates than usual

On top of that, instead of just seeing your pulls, you basically roll your dice and see your progression on a board game.

There is also a “beginner selector” on the standard banner that lets you choose your S-rank after 50 pulls, with discounted multis early on. On top of that, launch rewards are looking generous as well:

  • 2 free S-rank characters
  • A decent amount of pulls and currency

The only real question is if that generosity holds up long-term or not. No 50/50 is a massive change from your typical gacha game, but they might compensate by not giving out as many free pulls each patch as others. Launch is always very generous, so we will have to wait and see.

Duplicates & Weapons

One of the more unique systems is also how duplicates work, because instead of having multiple bonuses by accumulating duplicates, you can choose which duplicate effect is active, and switch it whenever you want.

So rather than locking into one upgrade path, you can adapt your build depending on what you are doing or what you need.

Weapons (called “Arcs”) follow a familiar system with base stats, sub-stats, and a specific power. However, a lot of strong options are available for free early on. Gacha weapons exist, but at launch at least, the gap between paid and free gear does not seem too extreme.

Again, long-term balance is the big unknown here.

Open World With Some Extras

The city itself is a big part of the experience. As mentioned already, you have got the usual exploration and side content with missions, races, collectibles, but also a few more unusual systems:

  • Vehicles you can drive or steal
  • A crime system (yes, you can get arrested)
  • Jail sequences where you cannot use your full team
  • A ton of side activities
  • Multiplayer Heists

It is not something you usually see in gacha games, and it gives the world a bit more personality.

Customization

There is also a decent amount of customization:

  • Character appearance
  • Vehicles
  • Housing, with interactions and photo options

Nothing revolutionary, but enough to make the game feel more “lived in.”

Worth Trying, But Keep Expectations Realistic

There is definitely a lot to like here. The game clearly tries to take the gacha formula and change it up a bit, especially with its gacha system and modern open-world design, and, coming from the same studio as Tower of Fantasy, it does look like lessons have been learned.

That said, it is still a launch. Technical issues are always possible, and early generosity does not always reflect how the game will feel months later. Monetization and long-term balance are still big question marks.

But since it is free-to-play, it is definitely one to try for yourself when it goes live!
