Genshin Impact Characters Lohen and Prune

Genshin Impact‘s next Version is going to introduce two very different characters: Lohen, a 5-star Cryo character from the Knights of Favonius, and Prune, a 4-star Anemo support built around reaction-based gameplay.

Even though they are released in the same update cycle, they do not really compete for the same role. One is a self-sufficient damage-focused character, and the other is a reactive support that scales with team interactions.

Genshin Impact Lohen

Lohen is officially the vice-captain of the Knights of Favonius ranged company, but in practice, he behaves more like a frontline assassin than a traditional archer.

His combat style is built around switching between precision and aggression depending on the situation. Even if he has access to ranged tools, most of his damage comes from close-range spear combat, where he actively engages enemies head-on rather than staying back.

His kit revolves around a “Masterstroke” state, where he builds up “Joy” to release a more powerful special Elemental Skill, and “Will to Win” that team members can accumulate for him to increase his DMG. The more his team supports his rhythm, the stronger his finishing burst becomes.

In simple terms, Lohen looks like a Cryo DPS who rewards aggressive gameplay and structured rotations, rather than passive off-field damage.

Genshin Impact Prune

Prune takes a very different approach. Instead of raw damage, she revolves around Swirl interactions and reaction-triggered buffs (like most Anemo characters), using her “Witchlure Bell” mechanic to apply consistent off-field damage.

She essentially acts as a reaction amplifier, rewarding teams that consistently trigger elemental interactions rather than single-element teams.

Who Is Worth Pulling?

At this stage, Lohen looks like the more straightforward “value DPS” option. He brings a lot of damage himself and does not appear heavily dependent on niche team requirements.

Prune, on the other hand, is more situational. Her value depends heavily on how often your team triggers reactions, but in the right one, she can significantly boost overall team DMG output.

  • Lohen → main carry / Cryo DPS option
  • Prune → flexible Anemo reaction support

It is also important to note that Lohen is supposed to join the permanent banner pool, but take this with a grain of salt, as nothing has been officially confirmed yet. However, if this is the case, it means you can always still get him through the permanent banner or by losing your 50/50 on other banners. But again, nothing has been confirmed yet, so we will have to wait for the next livestream to know if that is indeed true or not.
