Genshin Impact Finally Reveals the Tsaritsa and Teases Snezhnaya’s Cast

After so many years, Genshin Impact players have finally gotten their first official look at the Tsaritsa.

HoYoverse released the new Snezhnaya trailer, “Sudden Snow,” offering a glimpse at the Cryo Nation, introducing a large cast of new characters, and kicking off what could become the game’s most important story arc yet.

For many players, however, one reveal overshadowed everything else: Anastasya Feodorovna Snezhnaya, better known as the Tsaritsa.

The Cryo Archon has been one of Genshin Impact’s most mysterious figures since launch. Her influence has been felt throughout the story through the Fatui and the Harbingers, but she had never appeared directly until now.

A First Look at Snezhnaya

Beyond the Tsaritsa herself, the trailer introduces a long list of characters expected to play pretty big roles in the Snezhnaya story.

We got a ton of new faces!

  • Vodyanitsa
  • Alyosha
  • Odette
  • Valeriy
  • Vesna
  • Danica
  • Noy
  • Mitya

The trailer also features a few familiar Fatui Harbinger figures, including:

Sandrone is already releasing on July 1st, before the main Snezhnaya update arrives, and Pulcinella and Pantalone will hopefully become playable as well (Capitano, we remember you…).

The Trailer Hints at a Conflict Bigger Than the Tsaritsa

The character reveal is probably the coolest part, but the trailer’s dialogue may be even more important.

A few scenes revolve around the idea that the world’s fundamental laws are actually a curse. Characters discuss if people should overthrow those rules, submit to them, or transcend them entirely.

The final option becomes the main theme of the trailer. And probably the main theme of the entire zone.

Rather than choosing rebellion or obedience, multiple characters seem to argue that true freedom can only be achieved by escaping the system itself. The story also introduces growing resistance to Project Stuzha. As a reminder, this is the project conducted by the Eleven Fatui Harbingers.

At the same time, the trailer repeatedly questions the actions of divine powers and the Heavenly Principles, suggesting that blessings from the gods may not be as benevolent as they seem.

Sudden Snow

Is Snezhnaya the End?

From political intrigue and resistance movements to Fatui Harbingers and long-running mysteries surrounding the Heavenly Principles, “Sudden Snow” makes it clear that Snezhnaya is not just another nation update.

The trailer feels like the beginning of the end for Genshin Impact’s main story.

And after years of waiting, we finally have what we wanted most: a first official look at the Tsaritsa herself.

Many Travelers are already preparing for what may become the most expensive Primogem-saving season in the game’s history, and what could possibly be the end of a beautiful story. Where will the Traveler go after Snezhnaya?
