It has been a long time since we last heard anything big about ANANTA, another urban open-world RPG gacha game often compared to GTA, but according to new rumors, that silence may finally be ending soon!

For those who need a recap, this is what ANANTA is:

Ananta Gameplay Trailer

A few new leaks now claim that NetEase is preparing to share new information about the game during the annual NetEase Games 520 Online Conference 2026, an event that usually takes place around May each year.

Sadly, nothing has been officially confirmed yet, so those are just speculations around the event and the fact that it could finally include details about ANANTA’s first beta test, or maybe even a release window.

A Different Approach to Character Unlocks?

On top of that, one of the biggest rumors currently being shared by leakers is related to the game’s character system.

According to the leak, ANANTA should avoid the usual gacha format entirely when it comes to unlocking playable characters. Instead of pulling them through banners, characters would simply be obtained naturally through gameplay. We did know this to some extent already, but nothing was really confirmed so far.

The rumored system includes two main methods:

  • Progressing through the main story
  • Randomly encountering and recruiting characters in the open world

If true, that would immediately make ANANTA stand out from most anime live-service RPGs that are currently available. Of course, this also means they need another way to handle monetization. This could be through skins or other cosmetics like vehicles or housing items.

Everyone Is Ready for a Real Update

A LOT of people are waiting for ANANTA since its reveal trailer because of the urban setting, and movement/combat system that reminded us of a mix between a lot of different games. Since then, however, official news has been really limited, and everyone is becoming impatient. That is part of why these latest rumors are so important, because many are simply waiting for proof that the project is still moving toward release.

For now, you should still take all of this with a grain of salt until NetEase makes an official announcement, but if the rumors are true, May could finally bring the first real look at ANANTA’s future after months of silence!
