Marvel Rivals Season 5 Is Its Biggest Yet

Marvel Rivals just dropped their Season 5 breakdown, confirming that not only Gambit and Rogue are set to be the two newest additions to the roster, but also teasing new balance changes, team-ups, skins, and more. Here is everything we know so far for Marvel Rivals Season 5.

New Heroes & Modes

Gambit is going to be dropping first at the start of Season 5, with Rogue coming in the latter half. Along with two new hero additions, there’s also a new mode, Conquest. For the first time ever, Marvel Rivals is getting an 18 vs. 18 annihilation on a new Grand Garden Map. But that’s not all!

Due to the recent trend of players using Doom Match as a social hangout, the devs are actually implementing a proper non-combat map meant for socializing. The new Times Square map can host up to 100 players, finally giving the community a social hub without needing to worry about the unexpected Jeff or Iron Man ultimate breaking up the dance party.

Anniversary Celebration

Season 5 marks Marvel Rivals’ one-year anniversary, and to celebrate the occasion, the devs are giving fans not only a brand new Jeff skin, but also 2500 Units. Along with those free gifts, there will also be exclusive anniversary costumes sporting designs inspired by the community.

We are also getting another round of accessories to pair with your favorite heroes. This time, we have a bunch of new ones for Gambit, Human Torch, Magik, Mantis, Wolverine, Phoenix, Thor, Loki, Moon Knight, and Star-Lord.

Marvel’s Zombies

The devs also briefly touched on the successful PVE zombies mode. While the community deems it a success, there is still plenty of room for innovation, growth, and, most importantly, bug fixes. The devs are looking to the future with modes like this to better improve them. It’s possible that this mode will stick around and is likely to get updates in the future.

Ranked Placements & Changes

As we head into Season 5, ranked play is getting a few key overhauls beyond the usual character balancing. First up: placement matches. Players will now complete 10 placement games at the start of each season, letting you jump into higher ranks right away instead of being dropped back into Bronze or wherever you last fell. Your previous ranked peaks will also influence those placements—so if you’ve consistently hit Diamond in past seasons, expect your new season start to reflect that climb.

Ranked rewards are also seeing some adjustments. Beginning in Season 5, you’ll be able to earn all rewards across both halves of the season. Instead of two separate badges, there’s now just one per season—earnable at any point, whether early or late. The same goes for other ranked cosmetics: miss the first-half skin? You’ll still have a chance to grab it later in the season.

Marvel Rivals Season 5 Teamups

With each season comes team-up changes. While we won’t fully go in-depth here, we will briefly mention what’s being changed. Gabmit is a new anchor for Magneto, giving the master of metal another explosive AOE tool. Cloak & Dagger are giving Hawkeye a new modifier for his sword slash, allowing him to heal allies and apply anti-heal to enemies.

Blade and Moon Knight are teaming up, with Moon Knight giving Blade another dash, which empowers his sword to launch Moon Crescent projectiles that bounce between enemies. The Punisher and Black Widow’s team-up is being removed, and of course, Magneto and Hawkeye are being removed from their current team-ups. Black Widow is joining the Primal Flame team-up and can now shoot healing sniper shots. That’s right. Black Widow is a healer now.

As for balance changes, we don’t have the full details yet, so keep an eye on our latest news for when those roll around.
