Marvel Rivals Adds Gambit in Season 5

It’s official, Remy LeBeau, also better known as Gambit, is joining the Marvel Rivals roster in Season 5. After yesterday’s initial teaser, we already knew Gambit and Rogue were both the next set of heroes, but fans today got a first look at Le Diable Blanc’s moveset.

Gambit Joins Marvel Rivals

Surprisingly, Gambit is actually going to be a Strategist, utilizing his deck of cards to both heal his allies and harm his foes. Unlike other supports, which primarily focus on healing, Gambit’s gameplay revolves around amplifying his allies, or even cleansing them of debuffs, or applying healing reduction to his foes. Yet, unlike Ultron, he has way more healing baked into his kit, and ideally wants to be switching between mid-range for his card moves, or getting up close with his Bo-staff.

Learning From the Past

On the surface, Gambit’s kit design seems to be hitting that sweet spot between a complete heal bot and a DPS character. There have been several attempts to create an engaging blend of healing and providing extra damage for your team. Mantis is one of the first examples, as they can damage boost themself and need headshots to quickly restore their healing charges. Adam would soon follow with similar changes, rewarding him for being aggressive and, in turn, refueling his healing.

However, there are worse cases, such as Ultron. On release, Ultron was basically an extra DPS with some healing as a benefit. With a fast-charging ultimate, he could solo enemy healers and help snowball the match. But now, with Ultron’s damage shifting down over the course of several patches, his kit doesn’t have a lot of healing to supplement the loss in his DPS.

As for Gambit, his kit not only boasts healing reduction (which is becoming increasingly more common ever since Blade) but also can cleanse debuffs, including some ultimates like Dr.Strange’s. Plus, with Dive becoming slightly more meta with Daredevil, Angela, and others, Gambit is gonna have a lot of intense matchups.

But what do you think? Does Gambit boast enough or does he have too much power in his kit? Is he just right in terms of what he brings to the table, or is he a bit overloaded like Daredevil? Be sure to let us know and keep an eye on our other news section for more Marvel Rivals.
