Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Reveal

The Game of the Summer

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is officially releasing on July 9th, 2026! So yes, you can now book your summer vacations, because the coolest pirate is about to go on a new adventure!

The showcase goes over everything that has been re-imagined, and even some behind-the-scenes stories.

13 Years After the Original

Resynced brings the classic game back to life, rebuilt from the ground up with the latest Anvil engine to deliver the most thrilling pirate adventure!

Visually, the game is insanely good-looking. If you loved Edward Kenway and his story, you will most likely love it even more now!

For those who may not be familiar with Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, in this game, you play as Captain Edward Kenway, a rebellious scoundrel eager to make a name for himself in the pursuit of glory, freedom, and a search for a better life.

As Edward, you will end up crossing paths with the Assassins and Templars and being dragged into their centuries-old conflict. Not only will you uncover a lot of secret locations, but also legendary treasures and more.

During your adventure, you will also encounter infamous pirates such as:

  • Anne Bonnie
  • Charles Bain
  • Blackbeard

With their help, you will be able to establish a short-lived, lawless republic following the pirate code and defying empires built on cruelty and greed. Your adventure will lead you across a beautiful but also very dangerous tropical paradise.

You will have to navigate through dangerous waters and cross dense jungles, untamed lands, and bustling historical cities such as:

  • Havana, the thriving and wealthy jewel of the Caribbean ruled by Templars
  • Kingston, the trade hub
  • Nassau, the beating heart of the pirate republic

Each city will offer something else.

The Caribbean World – More Immersive and Realistic Than Ever

The Caribbean world will also come with a whole new level of immersion and realism. The whole world is powered by high-resolution textures, enhanced lighting, incredibly detailed environments, and a new dynamic weather system!

Even underwater exploration reaches another level with this remake! It will be much bigger, more beautiful, but also more dangerous than ever.

You will have seamless access to cities and locations as well. This means no loading screens when you go on and off the ship. The world really feels alive this time.

New Combat Systems

The combat system was also overhauled! It was reworked into a more action-oriented experience. You can wield dual swords, pistols, and of course, the famous hidden blades, but everything now plays a specific role with faster, more fluid, and dynamic attacks and combos.

For example, you can do a perfect parry to open up a window for an instant kill, and then follow with up to four chained takedowns! You can also use your surroundings to your advantage, including walls, ledges, and breakables. You will have access to many other tools, but we will leave that up to you to find out when you play this summer!

Improved Parkour

As you jump around in cities and jungles, you will notice how the parkour has improved as well. You can now execute moves such as:

  • Free jumps
  • Back ejects
  • Side ejects
  • And more

You can expect a wide range of reactive movements that will give you better control of your character, and that means more speed and deadlier assassinations.

Improved Stealth

As a pirate assassin, you often have to be a bit more stealthy if you do not want to get into more trouble. Resynced comes with an enriched stealth system where you can:

  • Crouch freely
  • Tailing and eavesdropping do not instantly fail on detection. There is no more desynchronisation upon detection, but instead, your enemies will adapt and react if they notice you

This means that you now have multiple ways to progress and complete your missions.

A Real Pirate Ship

Of course, this would not be a real pirate adventure without a ship. The Jackdaw is coming back as well, and it is cooler, bigger, and better than it ever was. Time to embrace your pirate life, set sail, and freely roam the Caribbean Ocean.

Your ship is now equipped with more firepower for even more epic naval fights with new alternative fire upgrades for every weapon. This gives you much more power and flexibility to overcome enemy ships in pretty much any situation.

You will encounter:

  • Epic ship battles
  • Boarding parties
  • Fort raids

Three new officers will also join your crew this time!

  • Lucy Baldwin
  • The Padre
  • Dead Man Smith – Unlocks a double-shot from broadside weapons

Each officer will have a unique narrative questline that will reveal more about them and their backstory. But they will not just join because you asked nicely. After all, you will have to gain their trust first to be able to recruit them to your crew. Once that is done, you can benefit from their special gameplay abilities.

A fourth member is joining your crew, and it is your trusty pet! Yes, you heard that right, you can now find a cat or a monkey for the Jackdaw.

A Faithful Story With Adjustments

Resynced remains faithful to the original, but it will offer a deeper, more immersive adventure with new quests, new storylines, and new narrative arcs, including more content linked to Blackbeard, Steed, and even a new scene with Caroline, Edward’s wife.

Ubisoft also says the game is a solo, story-driven action adventure, not an RPG, and multiplayer and DLC are not included in Resynced.

The team involved original Black Flag developers, and they worked closely with community fans through early feedback workshops to refine visuals, gameplay, and character details. Music also remains a main focus, with returning sea shanties, new songs linked to the story, and a new collaboration with Woodkid, who has also worked on Assassin’s Creed Revelations.

The Collector’s Edition that was leaked this morning was also revealed, including:

  • An Edward Kenway figurine
  • Kenway’s diary notebook
  • A brooch
  • A cloth map
  • Extra goodies

Ubisoft is pushing pre-orders now already, and the game will also be available day one on Ubisoft+.

Time to get ready, get that bottle of rum, and unleash your inner pirate on July 9th, Yo ho!
