Here comes the big Skyborne preview! Blizzard have detailed all the important features of the new race coming to Forever. We have information on their starting zone and quests, as well as the faction selection at character creation, which will affect which classes you can choose. Then there’s the racial abilities, which also have a special faction-based one each. They dive into customization options as well, both for regular forms and Druid ones!

Begin Your Journey on Zephras Isle
Thousands of years ago, a group of Highborne exiles forged a pact with elemental wind spirits and built a civilization within Skywall—one of the elemental planes.
When you arrive on Zephras Isle, that civilization is in crisis. The air spirits that once protected the island have vanished, ancient structures are beginning to fail, communities are becoming isolated, and the Skyborne are divided over what comes next. Zephras Isle serves as a new level 1–12 starting experience, blending classic Warcraft aesthetics with elemental architecture.
Choose Horde or Alliance at Character Creation
At character creation, you’ll choose whether your Skyborne joins the Horde or the Alliance, reflecting a people with shared ancestry but different visions for the future. Horde-aligned Skyborne embrace elemental traditions and gain access to the Shaman class, while Alliance-aligned Skyborne pursue the arcane legacy of their ancestors and gain access to the Mage class.
Both factions can also become Warriors, Hunters, Rogues, and Druids, including new Skyborne druid forms created specifically for the race. You’ll also find new racials, customizations, voices, dances, and visual options to help shape your Skyborne’s place in Azeroth.
Racial Abilities
(Horde) Windshaper Skyborne
The Windshapers are the descendants of the first shen’dorei high elves to receive the wind spirits’ gift of elemental skysight. A new generation of Windshapers is called to Azeroth from their home within Skywall to solve the mystery of what became of their missing elemental mentors and will stop at nothing to see the wind spirits restored and their way of life preserved.
- Walk on Air: Glide downward through the air for 10 seconds.
- Skysight: Receive an Elemental Blessing increasing run speed by 10%.
- Wind Blessed (Passive): 1% increased melee, ranged, and spellcasting Haste.
- Elemental Insight (Passive): Damage to Elementals increased by 5%.
(Alliance) High Order Skyborne
The High Order is made up of the descendants of the ancient Highborne scholars of Eldre’Thalas. When the wind spirits disappeared from Zephras Isle, the High Order realized that the Skyborne’s utter dependence upon their elemental patrons had left them dangerously vulnerable. A new generation of High Order have now been called upon to return to Azeroth to reclaim the arcane knowledge that they have lost, and use that power to ensure that the shen’dorei have the self-reliance to survive on their own.
- Walk on Air: Glide downward through the air for 10 seconds.
- Read Ley Line: Activate a ley line to gain 100% increased Health and Mana regeneration.
- Wind Blessed (Passive); 1% increased melee, ranged, and spellcasting Haste.
- Elemental Insight (Passive): Damage to Elementals increased by 5%.
Visual Appearance and Customization Options
Make your Skyborne your own by choosing from a variety of visual options that help bring your character to life.
Body Type 1 options include ten different face options, nine skin color options from shades of sky blue to light peach skin tones to darker tones, twenty-one hair styles, eleven hair colors, three different ear lengths, nine eye colors, four eyebrow styles. Zooming in a little closer, and you’ll be able to choose from thirteen different facial hair options, eyesight choices, feather colors (and to even include feathers in the hair), four face tattoo options, and two colors for those tattoos. There are also two different options for body tattoos (Zephyr and Wayfinder) also in two different colors to choose from.
Body Type 2 options include ten different face options, the same skin color options as Body Type 1, twenty-five different hair style options, ten hair colors, nine eye colors, three different ear lengths, and four eyebrow styles. There are also six different earring styles, two different jewelry colors (silver or gold), eyesight options, feather colors (if you choose to add them to your hair), two face tattoo colors and two options for body tattoos (Zephyr and Wayfinder) also in two different colors to choose from.
Adding it all up, there are thousands of different combinations you can choose from to make your new Skyborne reflect your own style and story. And if you decide you want to change things up later, you can visit a barber shop within the cities. It will cost a little bit of your hard-earned coin, but the option will be there if you want it.
Skyborne also have new druid forms created specifically for the race, giving you more ways to create a character who feels connected to Zephras Isle and the Skyborne story.
