As part of today’s podcast, WoW Classic Developer Josh “Aggrend” Greenfield reiterated Blizzard’s stance on RMT (Real Money Trading) in WoW Forever. To maintain the integrity of the economy, Blizzard will be pursuing accounts that break the game’s terms of service much more aggressively than in previous versions of the game.
As a result of this more aggressive approach, Aggrend has confirmed that there have been nearly 4,000 account closures as a result of RMT-related activity on the WoW Forever Beta so far.
| “We’ve actually closed over 2,100 gold-buying accounts, and we have closed almost 1,600 gold-selling or botting accounts on the beta.” |
To ensure that innocent players aren’t getting flagged for RMT in the future, Greenfield states that there will be a new UI element that will remind players to only accept trades with others who are trustworthy. This update will be going into the beta very soon and will serve as an additional warning when trading with other players or accepting gold in the mail.
