WoW: Forever is making sure players know when they’re about to hop between layers, with a new warning message appearing whenever a layer change is about to be triggered!
A Seamless Azeroth
Forever is taking a slightly different approach to Azeroth, aiming to make the world feel more seamless than ever. There are no traditional servers to pick from, meaning players can move through the world without being tied to a single realm. But behind the scenes, layers are still needed to manage the mega-server population.
But have no fear (looking at you, Hardcore players) as Blizzard has added a new warning to make those layer changes don’t come unannounced!
During the “Go Again!” World of Warcraft: Forever Hardcore Panel at BlizzCon, Principal Designer Chris Zierhut gave us a look into how layer phasing in WoW: Forever will work.
“We’ve added a new feature that we’ve wanted to get into World of Warcraft: Forever specifically for Hardcore. You’ll have it in the whole game but it’s for Hardcore.
When we need to do that world refresh around you, a new UI will pop up and give you a warning. Say, “Okay, in 3:00 minutes, 2:59, 2:58, etc., we’re going to refresh the world around you. Get somewhere safe.” And there’s a button you can push to say, “Okay, I’m somewhere safe, this is good, go ahead and move me now.””
So no more wondering why all those trogs suddenly respawned back in!
