WoW Forever is adding one of the more niche and controversial features of Retail WoW: The Black Market Auction House! Let’s take a look at what this means.
What is the Black Market Auction House?
The Black Market Auction House (known by the acronym BMAH) was a system originally added in Mists of Pandaria. This special auction house hosts rare items that can be bought with Gold. However, unlike the Auction House players know, in the BMAH, players need to engage in bid wars and ensure they have the highest bid at the time the auction ends to obtain the item.
The Retail iteration of the BMAH has items such as rare mounts (including a few removed ones), Tier 3 pieces, TCG pets and toys, and more. The BMAH was created on Retail WoW as a means to remove Gold from the economy. Looking at the prices in Forever, it seems to be following a similar objective.
The Black Market Auction House in WoW Forever
In WoW Forever, the Black Market Auction House can be found in Powderfuse Port, the new goblin settlement in the East end of one of the new zones in Forever, the Riverglades.

Items in the Black Market Auction House in WoW Forever
So far, we have been able to see the following items over a few days of scanning the BMAH on the Forever beta servers:
- Companion Pets such as
Disgusting Oozeling and 
Cat Carrier (Black Tabby); - Starting bid for Companion Pets is 100g.
- TCG items such as
Tabard of Frost, 
Tabard of Flame, and 
Carved Ogre Idol. - Starting bid for TCG items is 100g.
- Tier 0 pieces, no limitation on what slots are available.
- Starting bid for Tier 0 pieces is 400g.
- Rare mounts such as
Deathcharger’s Reins. - Starting bid for rare mounts is 3,000g.
It is interesting to see the expectations for Gold in WoW Forever based on the Black Market, considering that in Classic items, even 1000g for an Epic Mount was considered a feat. What do you think of these prices, and the addition of the system?
