70% of All Runs Are +10 or Higher—Is This the Best Mythic+ Season Yet?

The fourteenth week of Mythic+ in this season is over and once again Nightstalker314 is taking a look at the data provided by Raider.IO.

After the massive bump of the Turbo boost week and the subsequent weekly dungeon event numbers have dropped a lot. 14.09% less completed runs compared to the previous week. A lot of players maxed out the upgrade levels on their characters. Furthermore the upcoming belt reward from Patch 11.1.7 will once again serve as a small performance boost. Many players wait for that and shift their focus to other things until then. On top of that most characters now have crafted item level 681 or myth track drops from raiding and their vault on all slots. Now let’s look at the details.

Weekly Total Run Performance Compared to Other Seasons

Season 2 of The War Within continues to perform well. For now it is only significantly trailing behind DF S1. That season saw a long time benefit from new players returning to the game and constantly boosting M+ numbers for a long time. DF S3 in week 14 is also slightly ahead though in that week a dungeon event bumped up the total run numbers. Compared to the rest of the last 6 seasons TWW S2 is comfortably ahead and only lately has dropped below 50% of its first week’s performance. Early data for week 15 is looking decent and with the patch release starting week 16 the new belt could invigorate attempts to improve your rating.

Total Runs Across All Dungeons

Within the last few weeks we only saw slight changes in the order of most to least favorite. Shorter dungeons with less of a distance from the capital are always welcome for quickly filling your vault slots. Yet overall the spread in favorability is roughly within a +-1% range from the average. The affix combination of Ascendant, Fortified and Tyrannical is one of the roughest in the entire rotation. This is clearly reflected by a drop of about 1.5 percentage points for the in time ratio (84.58%). If any of the 4 new affixes should see another tuning pass it would be Ascendant.

In Time Completions

Darkflame Cleft is still the only dungeon to sit comfortably above 90% with 91.30% this week. The MOTHERLODE with 85.26% has established itself as a reliable dungeon for safe runs, especially for the current attempts on the highest key levels. It was the first dungeon to see a timed +20 run in week 8 and a +22 timed run this week. The Rookery was the only dungeon benefitting from the affix combination with 84.93%. This is mostly due to Tyrannical only being up at level 10 and above. Operation Floodgate as the completely new dungeon this season is doing really well at 83.74%.

The remaining four dungeons for this week are all within 0.34 percentage points. Mechagon (82.72%) and Theater of Pain (82.59%) in the last places also benefit from not having their bosses boosted on most key levels. Meadery is just ahead with 82.77%. And Priory – notorious for its massive trash pulls – dropped by more than 4 points down to 82.93%. Here the combination of Fortified and Ascendant can be nightmare fuel while handling so much CC.

Split Across All Key Levels

71% of all dungeons this week were done at key level 10 or higher. This dominance has now solidified after the massive performance bump from the Turbo Boost. Key level 10 at 27.5% and level 12 at 18.72% have once again established the double-pattern of the go-to key levels for your vault. The lower is good enough for loot, while the higher is better for upgrades. The entry key levels see slightly higher participation due to players finishing their weekly cartel chip quest. At the very end of the key range the top 3 levels still see weekly growth. By now a lot of teams are pushing to get their resilient keys at level 20 or higher. Compared to week 14 in Season 1 we are still comfortably two key levels higher on average. The number of high-level runs is also up, there are now 10 to 100 times more runs at the top key levels than there were in Season 1 at this point.

The affix combination beyond key level 3 is showing clear drop-offs from 2 to 4 percentage points for all key levels up to 11. Ascendant clearly has a massive impact. It’s not always possible to manage that much extra CC on top of handling trash packs. The impact of Fortified is observable in weeks like this one. Besides this, key levels 10 and 12 are in a good position with runs being timed between 80% and 90% every week.

Conclusion And Early Numbers For Week 14

Conclusion and Early Numbers for Week 14

By now the season is in really good shape and a contender for the best M+ season of all time. The developers should address minor issues with affix tuning in 11.2. That way this expansion can end on a high note. Weekly run numbers are approaching the late season floor between 700k and 800k total runs. Meanwhile, the weekly in time percentage is comfortably hovering around 85%.

As of this writing, 80 hours after the US reset, week 15 is about 9% behind in total runs. This is a decent number and we will see how much the new belt will impact overall M+ performance in Patch 11.1.7.
