Beautiful but Too Expensive: WoW Housing Store Debate Reignites

Blizzard’s latest edition to the cash shop has sparked a familiar mix of admiration and frustration. Two new Player Housing exteriors were launched last week, behind a fairly eye-watering paywall.

The Springtime Treehouse Exterior Pack is currently on the Battle.net shop for 4000 Hearthsteel, which equates to $40.

It’s hard to deny that these exteriors are stunning—Blizzard have delivered something truly cosy and in-line with the fantasy of Player Housing. But while many are giving props to the art team, the conversation around pricing is less than positive.

Players have also pointed out that only Night Elf and Blood Elf exteriors exist so far, alongside the basic Alliance and Horde options. Many had hoped for more racial exteriors before paid cosmetics entered the chat.

Save the Money!

In response, some frugal decorators have been sharing their own interpretations of the new exteriors to avoid buying Hearthsteel altogether!

It’s a familiar split: strong appreciation for the visuals, but growing concern over how Housing cosmetics are being monetised this early in its rollout.
