12.0.5’s week 6 is the story of the Guardian, as the tank has taken over everything! The Druid is in the top 14 most-played groups and managed to push Retribution out of the most popular spot as well! There’s plenty of changes in the DPS performance logs as well, so let’s dive right in.
The Data
The data used in this article comes from Raider.IO‘s excellent analytics tools, taking into account all Mythic+ runs across all levels of play. The data is focused on this reset and not on the season as a whole.
The Most Popular Specs in Mythic+
The reign of the Paladin is officially over! Despite some recent nerfs and other tank buffs, Guardian has risen to the very top and is the most played spec in Mythic+! It gained a huge 1.4% of the playerbase and still only just barely made it past Retribution, which only lost 0.1%, so the tanks are all funneling into that Druid. Beast Mastery is also on the move, taking down Unholy with its 0.6% bump. Demonology is dropping off, two spots down in 7th, with two healers moving past it.
Frost Mage is holding on pretty well, only dropping the one spot to the rising Mistweaver, which also barreled past its fellow tank Monk. This makes Monk the only class with two specs in the top 10, although Paladin is very close behind with Protection in 11th. Fire didn’t move much after its buffs, only managing to move out of dead last, but Arcane did jump 4 spots, moving out of the bottom 3.
Runs by Key Level
We see 24s being completed, with a solid spec variety, as over 10 different ones got a clear.
And here are the full numbers, including the amount of runs.
Group Composition Popularity
The No.1 group has taken over everything, taking an insane 16.4% piece of the pie. It’s the same group as last time, and it’s definitely why Mistweaver is on the rise so much. The second group is significantly different and significantly less popular, more than 10% being the top comp. It switches out the Monk for a Resto Shaman, the Devourer for a Ret Pala, and the Aug for a Demo Warlock, keeping them in the game. Beast Mastery shows up in group No.3, joining Ret and Unholy with a Mistweaver kicker, but all three groups (and the next 11, for that matter) are going with the Guardian.
Mythic+ DPS Logs
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing. This means that they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor. It is a much, much smaller factor, however. It grants only a few points for significantly faster completions compared to just any in-time finish. We’re also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity. This means that the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
95th percentile DPS
Devourer keeps on climbing and takes down Unholy for 2nd place, but they both drop a little compared to Augmentation. Demonology isn’t only getting played less, it’s also not performing very well. It drops three spots to 8th, as a soaring Outlaw takes its place. Ret remains stale in 6th and Survival moves one up thanks to the Warlock. Feral took its recent buff and moved to 9th, leaving Enhancement to grab the final top 10 slot after a 3-spot rise. Balance manages to crawl out of the bottom 3, leaving Frost DK to join Deva and Destro down there.
All Percentiles
The much slower-moving general bracket is just catching up to where things were a few weeks ago, with Augmentation taking the top spot finally and Ret moving up a little. Demonology still drops even in the slower chart, but only loses 1 spot in 6th. Fury is up as well, at the expense of Subtlety.
Very High Key Raw DPS Numbers
Note: We’re also taking a look at the raw damage numbers from Mythicstats. They take the top runs for extremely high keys (+16-23) from WarcraftLogs and list the overall DPS for the dungeon, which includes non-combat time as well. They’re ranked by the average DPS numbers, with the very top of the top shown next to it.
Demo isn’t going anywhere in the ultra-high raw DPS keys. It stays stable in 3rd, but we do see Augmentation rapidly rise, looking to take the Warlock down very soon after its two-spot rise over the last couple of weeks. We also see Feral’s buff moving it up a lot here, 6 spots up into 7th.
