A new shop currency appeared in the game files in the latest Midnight Alpha build, and it appears like Blizzard is building a cash shop for player housing.
Hearthsteel: Cosmetic Currency or Full-On Monetization?
We’ve found multiple icons labeled Hearthsteel, all pointing toward a tiered system for buying currency for housing decor. As you can see, there’s a bag, pot, and even a treasure chest, something we usually see in mobile games with bundle packs.
This leads me to believe players may be able to purchase Hearthsteel in different amounts with real money to buy customization options for their homes.
Shop Interface Overhaul in Patch 11.2.5
In the Legion Remix content update that is Patch 11.2.5, Blizzard has quietly updated the user interface of the in-game shop, most likely to accommodate more items. You can see the visual overhaul in the linked Reddit post here:
