Last Week of TWW S2 Mythic+ — Low Keys Boom, High Keys Fade

The 22nd week of Mythic+ this season is over, and for the final time in TWW S2, Nightstalker314 is taking a look at the weekly data provided by Raider.IO.

The dungeon event quest returned, offering players a Heroic raid reward for clearing 4 Mythic dungeons. Many used this as a chance to gear up for new characters they planned to play in Patch 11.2.

With 3.58% more runs than last week, the focus shifted towards lower keys and securing points for the 3,000 rating mount.

Once again, we’re excluding Chinese player data due to ongoing inaccuracies. We hope that in Season 3, Raider.IO will receive regular updates with the same accuracy as other regions. So, for one last time, let’s look at the details.

Weekly Total Run Performance Compared To Other Seasons

The Mythic dungeon event clearly boosted the numbers. In addition, we also saw 1.64% more characters active during that week. Usually, the final week of a season sees a major drop-off, since there little reason to put any effort into M+. TWW S2 is placing slightly ahead of TWW S1 and DF S3.

DF S1 and S4 ran for a shorter period. And DF S2 lasted for 27 weeks.

Total Runs Across All Dungeons

The spread in popularity remains almost untouched. The entire season has been so solid that the top dungeon never went past 14.1% and the bottom one never below 11.4%. The order once again only saw position changes in the midfield. Mechagon Workshop jumped from position 7 to 3. Perhaps a completed key for rating or portals was what many more players were missing.

The overall in time percentage went up slightly despite the Ascendant affix being active again. Usually it is the roughest out of the 4 rotating ones. The drop for Priory especially shows how large trash pulls requiring heavy CC, combined with an affix demanding the same, can lead to quick wipes. However, a higher activity in the easier low-level keys is pushing up the overall success rate.

Split Across All Key Levels

Less than 60% of all runs were done at key level 10 and above. Only 24.84% at key level 10 alone. The lowest value for this key level since week 2. In total numbers, we saw up to 34% more runs below level 10. This was boosted by the dungeon quest. Key level 7 saw an increase of 15% since here you can secure KSM at 2,000 rating. Another major bump happened for key level 12 (+1.3%) and 13 (+14.85%) around the threshold of 3,000 rating points.

The gap below the title cut-off widened even more this week. Level 16 to 18 dropped again by 25% to 45%. A stable activity at key level 20 indicates efforts to secure a few more titles. In addition, all key levels tied to rewards saw a higher success rate compared to previous weeks, up by as much as 2.6 points. Timing these crucial keys was more important than ever before.

Conclusion And Looking Forward to TWW S3

We’ll probably never see a M+ season finish at a higher activity than 20% of its first week. Developers might offer extra incentives in the final weeks, but this could also create feelings of FOMO. Maybe more loot drops could lure players in on lower key levels.

However, the higher key range needs a more staggered reward ladder. Otherwise, a lot of players see the final season outcome already set in stone after the first two-thirds of the season.

TWW S3 is bringing back two dungeons from the first season and repeating another two from the last. Each one has seen some major tuning with 11.2. The same applies to the returning Shadowlands dungeons (Halls of Atonement, Tazavesh Part 1 & 2). Eco-Dome, like Operation Floodgate before it, will need to prove itself well-tuned at release.

Overall tuning changes included a 14% increase to all mob HP compared to the previous season, along with a 4% reduction in damage dealt.

The developers may intend for players to hit a DPS wall before being taken out by one-shot mechanics. Once we have numbers from the first hours of Season 3, we’ll provide you with another early report on Thursday.
