While the trailer showed us the narrative thrust and pressure, the press kit has a lot more info on Midnight’s final big patch! Let’s dive in and see what content arrives, with one particularly big surprise. Here’s the intro snippet:
| The champions of Azeroth will need to return to the depths of the world and battle their way through a new zone, The Mantle Vault, an ancient place of Titan origin sealed off for thousands of years. It is here they must confront Xal’atath once and for all before she enacts her plans to “become one” with the Worldsoul contained at the center of the Worldcore. But as Azeroth’s champions close in on Xal’atath, it becomes clear that a much larger and older mystery unfolds about the land, its denizens, and Azeroth itself and begs the question, will defeating Xal’atath be enough, or will it signal a much larger threat? |
The Mantle Vault Zone
We’re going in to the deepest reaches of Azeroth the planet this time around. The Mantle Vault has all the usual zone features, along with a new lair, The Gearhold, and a new Renown faction, the Radiant Core. Radiant Screams are the new zone-wide event for flexible group sizes with unique rewards.
Worldcore Raid
The 8-boss raid will be the final stand against Xal’atath, but as teased in the above intro, there may be worse things afoot! The Jailer made a brief appearance in the BlizzCon opening ceremony collage video, so perhaps we’re going to find out just what threat he was talking about after he was defeated? Either way, we have to save Azeroth from Xal’atath first!
Legendary Weapon!
The first legendary weapon of the Worldsoul Saga arrives in the patch as well! Players will wield Midnight’s Edge, a caster dagger with a legendary unlock questline to go with it! The quest will start in the Worldcore raid.
