Another patch, another game-breaking bug – and of course, a new Rextroy video.
In his latest discovery, Rextroy digs into Patch 11.1.7‘s new Lorewalking feature and finds… well, let’s just say things are not always working as intended. From being kidnapped by boats to getting deleted by an NPC for 200 million damage, the patch introduced some hilarious chaos – and even a gold farming trick that can earn up to 20,000 gold per hour.
What Is Lorewalking and Why Is It Bugged?
Lorewalking is supposed to let players replay old questlines, but it currently scales every outdoor enemy in the world to your level, including old NPCs and broken mobs that were never meant to hit Level 80.
This scaling causes all kinds of problems:
- Enemies like Rexxar and the Whale Shark have hundreds of millions of HP.
- Damage calculations break so badly that the game shows negative numbers, like -1.4 billion holy damage.
- Debuffs scale too, with effects like “-100 stamina” turning into -140,000 stamina.
Your party members who are not in Lorewalking still see everything at normal levels and can attack mobs normally. But on your screen, the numbers go off the rails.

Gold Glitch: Up to 20K per Hour
All of this would be funny enough on its own, but the real surprise is the loot scaling.
Enemies scale their rewards to your level too, which means:
- Mobs that drop 2g for others can drop 120g for you.
- Green items vendor for up to 60g.
- You keep personal loot, so a full party gets full rewards.
Rextroy tested several zones:
- Northrend Bombardment was great at first, but gold dropped off quickly.
- Deepholm Troggs gave good returns but were also throttled after a few minutes.
- Duskwood Crypt was the most consistent, giving up to 900g every 3 minutes with green weapons and no sign of drop-off.
Some areas randomly throttle gold drops, sometimes reducing 30g kills down to just 1g. The reason is unclear, but it might just be Blizzard’s attempt to limit “efficient” gold farming.
Still, with a good group and realm hopping, players could make up to 20,000g/hour using this method.
Will Blizzard Fix This?
Probably. Some zones are already seeing loot throttles, so it is likely that Blizzard will patch this out before long. Until then, Azeroth is wide open for gold farming, as long as you bring a few friends and some realm hops. Just keep in mind: this is almost certainly not working as intended. We do not recommend trying it yourself, since it might be considered an exploit and could lead to account actions.
Here is the video if you want to watch it all for yourself:
Rextroy also hints that this scaling bug might enable even more broken one-shots soon, so we might not have seen the last of Patch 11.1.7’s chaos.
