Talebound is one of the major features coming in Patch 12.1.7, The Promise of Tomorrow. Although the feature is currently not available for testing on the PTR, we were able to datamine talent calculators and have an idea of how the game mode works!

Talebound is a standalone game mode (think Plunderstorm), in which you will become part of the dark tales of the Storyteller, fighting bosses and solving puzzles in an all-new PvE action RPG mode.
Not much is known about how the mode will play out, as it is not available for testing in this first week of the Patch 12.1.7 PTR.
Talebound Talent Calculator
In Talebound, you will be able to choose between three role archetypes you can play in the game mode. Each archetype is very distinct and has its own talent tree with new abilities.
Each talent tree has 27 points, and you can obtain points via Tales of Valor. As of the current datamining, there is no limit on talent points, and you can max out all three archetype trees. Tales of Valor for each archetype are first spent unlocking your extra abilities, then the remaining points go onto talents improving them.
- Witch: A spellcaster who overwhelms enemies with brews, incantations, and creature summons.
- Wear a crown of moonlight and speak forgotten names. Nature bends to those who dance the crooked path.
- Slayer: A fighter who uses an arsenal of swords, guns, and traps against creatures.
- Take up your rifle, your pistol, your blades. As the poets say: A hunter must hunt.
- Inquisitor: A zealot who channels the power of the Light to carve a path in the dark.
- Wield your words like weapons, and keep the cleansing fires tended. They will be needed in the dark.
Talebound Power Upgrade Calculator
In addition to the three character archetypes, there are three talents for power gains in Talebound. You can obtain these independently of which archetype you choose to play as.
- Arcanist: Uses a currency called Alkahest to identify and improve potions and scrolls that heal you or give you temporary effects.
- Antiquarian: Exchange Lost Relics found through your Talebound journeys for curiosities. These relics grant you powerful passive effects.
- Outfitter: Locate Outfitter Supplies to earn upgrades for your armor. This grants enhancements like more Health, Energy, Barrier Value, Dodge, and Critical Strike %.
