Survival Set to Take Over: The Best Performing and Most Played Specs in the Raids: DPS Logs

Starym's Avatar by Starym

We’re back in the raids just ahead of the giant class tuning pass coming with this reset. There’s been plenty of movement and the current top specs are mostly getting nerfs this week, but there’s some exceptions like Survival, which is looking to take over the place!

Note: We are using normalized scores instead of raw DPS for the Warcraft Logs rankings. Normalized scores take into account the outlier boss fights where certain specs could stack massive DPS (due to the nature of the fight, whether it’s AoE spam or something else), which would then affect their overall score for the whole raid.

It going to take a while for the class tuning pass to shift these numbers around once it lands tomorrow, so we’ll see just how much they move in a week’s time. For now, Devourer takes center stage this week as it pushes past Demonology to grab 4th place, but it’s catching a nerf in the tuning. Elemental does the same to Fury in 7th. Augmentation is the biggest mover, grabbing 4 spots in 9th, just ahead of an also-rising Shadow. We still see the non-first-place Mage specs both down in the bottom 3 as well.

When it comes to performance itself, we’re seeing the charts catch up with the popularity, at least when it comes to the No.1 spot. Frost Mage is now at the top of both the popularity and performance charts, and we’ll see if the coming nerf can move it out. Augmentation and Demonology fall, with the Evoker getting some more nerfs on top of that. Survival and Devourer are also moving on up, grabbing 2nd and 3rd, just ahead of the fallen Evoker. Assassination got a big boost as well, moving three spots up into 6th. Demonology sees the biggest drop, finding itself a whopping seven spots down in 9th, just ahead of Subtlety, which is on the exact opposite trajectory. It seems those class fixes really did the Rogues good.

Overall Damage All Percentiles

Survival edges out Frost Mage in the generalist bracket, as Unholy makes some huge moves into 3rd. Subtlety is all the way up in 6th here, and Demonology is holding on a bit better in 8th. Retribution breaks into the top 10, just ahead of Outlaw. We see the other Warlocks also had a bad week, as Affli and Destro are down in the bottom 3.

Unholy is the spec of the hour in Mythic, which is probably why it’s getting nerfed in the tuning. Frost Mage is in close 2nd, but it’s also catching a nerf, albeit a smaller one. Demonology is sitting pretty in 3rd, with no changes planned, looking to take it all over. Beast Mastery has been gaining a lot of traction, moving all the way up to 6th from outside the top 10, and it’s getting a buff this week too! Fire and Arcane will be staying down in the dumps with no planned buffs, but Frost DK may make it out of the bottom 3 with its 5% buff.

Overall Damage All Percentiles

Frost and Survival are doing great here as well, but Devourer is doing a lot better, but still dropping a spot to the Mage. As both specs are getting nerfed we’ll see who wins the nerf war, or whether Survival surpasses them both. Windwalker is the biggest difference from Heroic, as we see the Monk all the way up in 4th.
