It’s hard to imagine World of Warcraft without addons. For many players, they’re just part of the game. Whether it’s a boss mod shouting a warning, a cleaner inventory or UI, a cosmetic reskin of your minimap, addons have become such a crucial part of WoW that it’s easy to forget they were built by the community.

Now, CurseForge has passed more than 10 billion World of Warcraft addon downloads! It’s an absurd number that says so much about how important addons have become to the game. To celebrate, they’ve highlighted ten of the most influential addons that have helped shape the game as we know it.

The Ten Most Iconic WoW Addons

You can read more about these addons here, and of course, you can download them all (if you haven’t already) on CurseForge!

Ultimately, WoW’s addon community has always been a two-way street. Players push addon developers to create better tools, addon developers push Blizzard to rethink what the game can offer, and Blizzard’s changes push creators to adapt all over again.

Even with the addon crackdown that came with Midnight, the community hasn’t stopped creating. If anything, 10 billion downloads are a pretty good reminder that addons have become an important part of WoW’s identity—and after two decades, they’re clearly not going anywhere!
