Demon Hunters are finally getting their long-awaited third “Devourer” spec in Midnight. And if that wasn’t enough, Blizzard is also opening the Demon Hunter class to one new race!
The Devourer: A Raid Boss No Longer
The first whispers of a Void-themed Demon Hunter spec came through the optional Manaforge Omega boss encounter called The Soul Hunters.
One of the Demon Hunters is sporting a never-seen-before Void specialization!
Furthermore, we’ve also datamined the INV_112_Ability_DemonHunter_MetamorphasisVoid.BLP Metamorphosis icon in the Patch 11.2 game files, which further supported the theory about a potentially new spec for Demon Hunters!

While Blizzard said in an interview they had nothing to announce about a third Demon Hunter spec at that time, we now know they wanted to keep it until Gamescom!
What Do We Know About the Devourer Specialization?
Devourer is a mid-ranged DPS spec using Void and Cosmic magic!
Some signature abilities part of the Devourer kit include:
- Void Metamorphosis – A transformation sustained by soul harvesting.

- Collapsing Star – Described as a powerful finisher.

- Void Ray – Piercing beam of Void energy.
- Reap – A Scythe attack that consumes soul fragments.
- Voidblade & Hungering Slash – Melee combo with retreat.
