This Unexpected 12.0.5 Change Made Silvermoon Guards Actually Tolerable

If you’ve spent any time in Silvermoon as anything other than a Blood Elf, you’ll probably have noticed the judgy guards. Whether it’s your class or your race, the guards are… less than welcoming. Even some Blood Elf classes get the side eye! But that was before the update.

Since Patch 12.0.5, after completing the campaign, players have noticed Silvermoon guards have toned down their hostility. Instead of inferior (non-Blood Elven) Paladins “toying with the Light”, the guards are recognising that others’ “wielding of the Light is not so different”.

Even Death Knights are tolerated. Instead of the previous cold remarks, guards now say, “You are accepted into our city, death knight, after all you have done.”

While most players see this as a sign that Silvermoon is finally softening toward outsiders, some still think the line is a little ambiguous. Either way, it is a noticeable shift from the outright disdain before Patch 12.0.5.

Not everyone is happy, of course. Some players miss the bigotry and blatant racism, claiming that it added to Silvermoon’s worldbuilding. Being snobby is basically part of Blood Elven DNA. But after having saved Silvermoon, and the whole of Azeroth from Xal’atath and the Void, a little recognition feels deserved. Though we won’t be holding our breath for much more than that!
