The following guide covers everything you need to know about Midnight Patch 12.0.5 and its features.

1.

Introduction

After our assault on the Voidspire and our victory in our March on Quel'Danas, Xal'atath has given us no time to lick our wounds before the next chapter in our story! Midnight's first content patch 12.0.5, Lingering Shadows, releases the week of April 21st, 2026. We get to push back the forces of the Void in new activities across the Midnight zones, play through more of the Midnight story, experience an entirely new World of Warcraft game mode, and more!

Read on to learn about all that Midnight Patch 12.0.5 has to offer.

2.

Turboboost, Bonus Rolls, and the Voidforge

In the Voidstorm, Decimus has had players collecting powerful Elementary Voidcore Shard Icon Elementary Voidcore Shards in Midnight Season 1 endgame activities since the season began. Now his project is finally finished: Behold the Voidforge!

The Voidforge provides players with two weekly Nebulous Voidcore Icon Nebulous Voidcore bonus roll tokens, purchaseable via gold, Veteran Dawncrest Icon Veteran Dawncrests, or Voidlight Marl Icon Voidlight Marl. Players may use these tokens to receive a random item (appropriate for their Loot Spec) upon defeating a Midnight Season 1 raid boss, or completing a Mythic+ dungeon, Bountiful Delve, or Nightmare Prey hunt.

The Voidforge also serves as a turbo boost by supercharging fully-upgraded weapons and trinkets by way of the Ascendant Nilhammer. Once a player has completed the construction of the Nilhammer, their entire Warband will begin acquiring Ascendant Voidcore Icon Ascendant Voidcores from Midnight Season 1 endgame content. Using an Ascendant Voidcore Icon Ascendant Voidcore will infuse an eligible weapon or trinket with further power, increasing its item level beyond the maximum upgrade.

Void Assaults

Face the forces of the Void once again as they launch targeted attacks in Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman. Void Assault activities reward Field Accolade Icon Field Accolades, which can be exchanged for housing decor, pets, mounts, and most notably, void-infused recolors of the Tier 2 remasters!

Void Strikes and Void Incursions

Void Strikes take place in Eversong Woods or Zul'Aman on a weekly rotation. Once players have defeated a Void Strike, a new one will begin in another area of the zone.

When enough Void Strikes have been defeated, a Void Incursion will begin. Completing these events will require many more players.

4.

Ritual Sites

Much like Delves, Ritual Sites are tiered and instanced content, designed for up to five players; they also count towards the World content row in the Great Vault. You can tailor each Ritual Site to your liking, by adding additional Challenge affixes to your run in order to reap even greater rewards.

5.

Abyss Anglers

Take a break from Void-busting and instead don a diving suit, before you venture into the depths off the coast of Zul'Aman to seek out the deadliest fish with your trusty spear. Upgrade your spear and dive gear, catch new creatures, discover sunken treasures, and of course, earn cosmetic rewards and a whole host of new rewards! Abyss Anglers is another new activity joining the events roster in 12.0.5. Seek out Depthdiver Jeju on a tiny island east of Zul'Aman to get started.

6.

Decor Duels

Each team takes a turn playing as the Hiders, disguising themselves as a variety of furniture or other items you may frequently find in Silvermoon, while the other team may kit themselves out in different Seeker "classes," and even customize their skills, to find their opponents.

Decor Duels reward Illusionary Coin Icon Illusionary Coins, which can be exchanged for toys, cosmetic weapons, and a glorious purple bee mount!

9.

Housing Changes

As Housing is a major feature of the Midnight expansion, it stands to reason that the first Midnight content patch would bring with it many adjustments to Housing; players have had plenty of opportunities to use the associated interfaces and provide feedback.

9.1.

Miscellaneous Changes

  • When a guild member departs the guild, they will be teleported out of the neighborhood. The eviction notice will be visible after their teleportation.
  • Added a new budget icon for House Upgrades.
  • In the Cornerstone information screen, confirmation dialogues for Buy and Move now include plot number, Neighborhood information, and price.
  • The warning when you attempt to enter a locked Home is now friendlier.
9.2.

Exterior Edit Adjustments

This patch introduces a handful of new, and very welcome, changes to Exterior Editing:

  • Introduced a new, distinct appearance for the exterior House Edit button;
  • Added an option to toggle Decor on and off while editing housing exterior;
  • Added a new popup warning to alert you about any Decor changes that will occur while swapping exterior housing types;
  • Exterior editing will now prevent the home's position and rotation from resetting while swapping housing types.
9.3.

Decor Adjustments

Good news for Decor collectors! Decor can now be linked in chat by Shift + Clicking. Clicking on a linked Decor item will open the Decor Catalog to that item. When obtaining a new piece of Decor, the chat message will now also include a link to the item in the Decor Catalog.

Dyed versions of Decor will now showing on the same Catalog card as the original item. You can now cycle through variants of the same Decor in the preview window.

Decor and Houses now fade into the area, instead of appearing suddenly.

9.4.

Housing Endeavors

A few clarifying details have been added to Endeavors systems in order to make the process more easy to understand and navigate. The Endeavors page now includes a tutorial help-tip providing instructions on switching active Endeavors. The Endeavors completion reward now includes a tooltip displaying House XP and Community Coupons Icon Community Coupons earned.

10.

Profession Adjustments

Healers the world over rejoice! Cooking and vendor refreshments now restore health and mana based on percentages, rather than fixed amounts. This change is a welcome adjustment after many years of constantly swapping out water and food options when your level or gear exceeded the level of the water you chose for mana restoration.

The Deftness stat has now been adjusted and scales at a slower rate for Dragonflight, Khaz Algar, and Midnight professions.

Learn more about Deftness, and all the other profession stats, in our guide:

11.

UI & Accessibility Changes

  • The Damage Meter windows now have a minimize and maximize button;
  • Shift + Clicking a feature's checkbox in Edit Mode will enable the feature directly;
  • The default size of raid and arena frames has been increased;
  • Added the ability to invite cross-faction players to a party from the Recent Allies window.
11.1.

Transmog System Changes

Situations permit players to automatically change their transmogs depending on set parameters. Players can thus automatically apply new appearances for different specializations, different types of content, different forms (like Dracthyr, Worgen, or Human), and more! With Patch 12.0.5, Weather and Time of Day have also been added as Situations.

A "Sheathe Weapon" option has been added to the Transmog preview pane. The preview pane "Save Outfit" button now glows when your transmog has pending changes. This screen also now offers more detailed tooltips on the collection statuses of the Sets and Customs Sets sections.

A new command has been added: /outfit. Using /outfit x, where x is your desired outfit's order number in the Transmog Pane, will automatically swap to that outfit. This is an exciting and flexible new command for players who are eager to swap outfits on a whim.
