There’s just no beating Guardian or the top group composition, as they just go from strength to strength. All the specs involved are getting more and more play, but Retribution and Beast Mastery manage to hang in there despite not being in the top group. Let’s see what’s happening.
The Data
The data used in this article comes from Raider.IO‘s excellent analytics tools, taking into account all Mythic+ runs across all levels of play. The data is focused on this reset and not on the season as a whole.
The Most Popular Specs in Mythic+
There’s just no stopping the orange on top. Guardians gained another huge 0.5% of the playerbase over the past week, showing no signs of slowing down. Ret took a small 0.1% hit in 2nd place, but is still solidly ahead of Beast Mastery, despite the Hunter gaining their own 0.1%. Mistweavers gain 0.2% as their participation in the top meta group is paying off. Meanwhile Demonology remains stable in 7th, but loses a big chunk of players, 0.5% down. Destruction manages to climb out of the bottom 3, leaving Assassination to jump in, despite both sitting at 0.5% total.
Runs by Key Level
The 24s are getting a bit more diverse, as we see 10 specs playing them, but the vast majority is still the same 5 specs as last week, aka the big meta spec.
And here are the full numbers, including the amount of runs.
Group Composition Popularity
The group comp chart is getting sillier and sillier, as the top spec just takes up more and more space. We’re up to 24% on the Guardian, Mistweaver, Unholy, Devourer, Augmentation behemoth, with the 2nd best comp still at 6%. The rest have all been siphoned off and fed to the beast at the top.
Mythic+ DPS Logs
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing. This means that they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor. It is a much, much smaller factor, however. It grants only a few points for significantly faster completions compared to just any in-time finish. We’re also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity. This means that the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
95th percentile DPS
The top 6 remain very stable here, but we do see Enhancement drop off significantly, down two sports in 9th. Survival and Feral take advantage of the Shaman’s fall and move up, while Assassination pushes Demonology out of the final top 10 spot. The bottom 3 remain the same, as Devastation, Destruction, and Balance are regulars there.
All Percentiles
The generalit bracket has caught up to the top percentiles, as we see Devourer move into 2nd. There are still differences here, however, as Survival is doing a lot better, managing to best Ret in 5th. Demonology is also still hanging in there a lot better, but still dropping one spot. Enhancement is fending off Fury in 8th, and the top 10 is closed out by a different Rogue, Outlaw.
Very High Key Raw DPS Numbers
Note: We’re also taking a look at the raw damage numbers from Mythicstats. They take the top runs for extremely high keys (+16-25) from WarcraftLogs and list the overall DPS for the dungeon, which includes non-combat time as well. They’re ranked by the average DPS numbers, with the very top of the top shown next to it.
Demonology has fallen off quite a bit here, down in 7th, while Outaw and Feral are rising. We see Assassination doing well here, pushing into 9th and beating Subtlety on its way, also making it three Rogues in the top 10.
