Season 2 is here! With Season 2 starting this week, we have our first Mythic+ Tier list for Season 2, reflecting the first tuning pass for Season 2.
Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ Tier List
Below is the tier list updated for this week. This list reflects the current state of the meta and recent tuning changes. You can read more about how these lists are built in the Criteria section at the bottom of the post.

Highlights for the Week
Below, we will recap the biggest highlights for the week. As always, if you’re looking to see the complete analysis, check out our individual guides. The guides cover in detail the reasoning behind every spec’s placement.
You can also see the tier list explained below in video format:
Tank State – Blood Down, Guardian Up
With the last round of tuning, Blood DKs got hit once more with nerfs. The spec is still the best for Mythic+, both for damage and survivability, however, the gap is closing. It will be interesting to see what Blood is able to pull once realms go live this Tuesday, as it wasn’t properly tested in title range (+20 or higher)
Guardian is slowly creeping up in charts. It is possibly one of the sleeper picks for Season 2. The damage is slightly lacking, but the toolkit and survivability are on point.
If Blood ends up getting nerfed again, Prot Paladin or Guardian will likely take its place. Vengeance has a strong stance, but it is too squishy for pushing right now.
Healing – Lifting the Bottom
The biggest movement for healers happened at the bottom, where Holy Priest and Resto Druid received substantial buffs. The buffs, combined with the nerfs to Disc, have pushed both specs ahead of Disc. Priests will likely be playing holy, unless the externals Disc provide are a make-or-break for the key.
Mistweaver received a solid HPS buff. The buff doesn’t move it ahead of Resto Shaman, but it solidifies its position in A-Tier. Mistweaver is likely on par with Preservation right now, with Pres having a slight edge, but being way harder to pilot.
On The Fall Side – DPS Nerfs
The tuning pass has nudged many DPS specs down. Arcane, despite the community doom, wasn’t really affected hard by it, retaining its S-tier position.
Havoc has seen more nerfs for the third week in a row. It still seems like a strong pick, but might have its tier revised next week.
Despite not being nerfed, Destruction was moved from A+ to A. This was done due to everyone else around it being buffed. The lack of a proper group buff for Warlocks means they need to be ahead damage-wise to justify bringing it.
On the other hand, Balance received some nerfs but still holds its A+ placement. Balance’s kit, Mark of the Wild, poison and curse removal, soothe, keeps it in A+.
Meta Prediction – Hybrid Comps
Throughout the last few weeks, it looked like we’d have a season with a caster meta comp. However, as the Season is about to start, the picture has changed slightly. The smaller gap between the S-tier specs likely means we’ll see some variety, at least at the start of the Season.
You can expect groups running Arms + Ele + Arcane, or Rogue + Ele + Arms, or other variants. We could see the meta shifting into Phys or Caster comps depending on upcoming tuning passes.
Criteria of the Tier List
This tier list is based on the strength of each DPS specialization during Midnight Season 2. The placement takes both the raw throughput and the utility kit into consideration. Damage profile for Season 2 dungeons also plays a role in deciding positioning.
You can read the full disclosure about the criteria on the Tier List hub. Ultimately, Tier Lists are an opinion, which you may disagree with. However, this is our current opinion as tuning stands. The list will change week over week, and we will cover future changes as the meta progresses. Stay tuned for updates.
