Midnight is bringing a new end-game system—Prey, launching with the expansion on 2nd March. Prey is an optional open-world feature where you hunt for powerful targets, who can also hunt you back!

Here we’ll dive into the gameplay, rewards, and everything you need to know before Midnight!

Opting in for Prey

To opt into the Prey system, first speak to Magister Astalor Bloodsworn in Murder Row in Silvermoon City. There is a short level 90 questline to complete to unlock Prey. However, after completing this once, you can access the Prey system with levelling alts.

Choose Your Target

Each Midnight zone offers three different Hunts. You can choose a Hunt from the Hunt Table in Astalor’s Sanctum.

Each of these Hunts will offer differing difficulty levels:

  • Normal: other players will be able to assist you in taking down your target
  • Hard: Torments will empower your enemy with additional abilities
  • Nightmare: an extreme challenge, which must be completed solo

You will unlock these difficulties as you progress through the Preyseeker’s Journey.

Finding Your Prey

Initially, your target’s location will be hidden. Completing activities such as World Quests and killing rare enemies in your chosen area will uncover their location.

Prey also brings some new activities, including disarming traps, killing minor/major Coalesced Anguish mobs, and completing Prey-exclusive World Quests to further your hunt.

Spoils of the Hunt

Completing the hunt will reward:

  • Progression towards the current season’s Preyseeker’s Journey
  • Gear, scaling with the difficulty of the Hunt
  • Dawncrests, Midnight’s new gear upgrade currency
  • Coffer Key Shard iconCoffer Key Shard
  • World Tier Great Vault progression

The Prey system also brings a new currency, Remnant of Anguish iconRemnant of Anguish. This is collected on completion of the Hunt, but also drops from ambushing targets, and Coalesced Anguish mobs.

Remnant of Anguish iconRemnant of Anguish can be used to buy decor, pets, mounts and cosmetics from Construct V’anore in Astalor’s Sanctum. These rewards will become available as you progress through your Preyseeker’s Journey. You can check out the rewards on offer here!
