Prey Guide for Midnight: Torments, Difficulties, and Rewards
Learn more about Prey, the optional open-world activity introduced in the Midnight Expansion.
Introduction
Prey is a new optional hunting system that lets you pursue powerful foes across the Midnight Expansion zones for various rewards.
How to Enable the Prey System?
As mentioned before, Prey is optional, which means you must enable it by visiting Magister Astalor Bloodsworn in Murder Row in Silvermoon City, where you will select a contract and the target you want to hunt down.
How Prey Works
Once you pick a contract, you can continue playing through the zones as you normally would. The Prey system is meant to be very unpredictable, which means there is a chance for your target to show up and assault you when you least expect it. For example, you may be ambushed while in the middle of completing a World Quest.
Prey Difficulties
The Prey system is available in three difficulties.
- Normal Difficulty — On this difficulty, other players in the open world can help you take down your target.
- Hard Difficulty — Enemies on this difficulty come with a mechanic called Torments, empowering your target with more abilities.
- Nightmare Difficulty: This is the hardest difficulty and the target is very challenging to defeat. No raid groups are allowed to take down your foes!
As you can see in the screenshot, we have a target with a fear-based torment.
Prey Rewards
The Prey system will grant credit toward the Great Vault, granting you up to Hero-track loot, similar to Delves.
Additionally, you can unlock mana wyrm-themed mounts, and various cosmetics.
