You’re Leaving Free House XP Behind Without These Tricks!

Levelling up your House Level is the key to unlocking new room types, expanding your decor budget, and increasing your room placement limit. House XP comes from two sources:

  • Completing Endeavors (not unlocked until Midnight)
  • Collecting Uncommon quality (or better) decor for the first time

The current cap is Level 5, giving you 2050 decor budget, and 43 room placement points. Because Endeavors don’t unlock until Midnight, your early levelling will come from gathering new decor. So if you already need more space, here are the fastest, most cost-efficient ways to do that.

The Cheap Method: Play the Game

If you’re trying to level your house without setting your wallet on fire, stick to methods that cost no gold. Many quests and achievements reward decor. Whilst this might feel slow, we’ve got a few tools that might help speed you up.

HomeBound Addon – This addon tracks achievements that reward decor, and whether you’ve completed them or not. After a recent update, it now also includes a list of currently available decor vendors.

Almost Completed Achievements Addon – As the name suggests, this addon tracks your almost completed achievements. You might be closer to some decor items than you think!

Buy Decor for Legacy Resources

Decor items can also be purchased for old-expansion currencies. Use the WoWDB Housing Hub website to browse decor you can collect. Here are the filters we suggest using:

  • Early Access Items
  • Rarity: Uncommon/Rare/Epic
  • Sold by Vendor (to filter out crafted decor)
  • (Optional) Filter by faction and currency

Focus on items that are not tied to achievements, as if you’ve completed these, you’ll have the decor items already. Vendor coordinates are included, making the whole process a little more painless!

You can also log into WoWDB Housing Hub with your Battle.net information. After syncing your characters, you can filter decor items by achievement status, and even by owned status.

The Expensive Method: Crafting & Auction House

If you don’t mind spending gold—or time—these options can push your House Level up quickly.

Crafting Decor

Crafting is another way to earn new decor items, but it’s resource-heavy. You’ll need Lumber (here’s a guide on how to get that), which cannot be bought or sold on the Auction House. You must also have the appropriate profession levelled in order to craft decor items.

You can place crafting orders, and let other players use their Lumber, but in early Patch 11.2.7, that’s going to be both hard to find and very pricey.

Buying Decor on the Auction House

If you’re rich and impatient, this is the fastest brute-force method. Just buy anything you haven’t collected yet and watch your House XP jump!
