Zenless Zone Zero Major Last Minute Changes to Seed and Orphie & Magus

Hoyoverse has released a surprise round of adjustments to Seed and Orphie & Magus in the Zenless Zone Zero 2.2 beta, just a week before release. These changes affect both their core kits and mindscapes, along with several damage multipliers for Seed.

Seed Adjustments

  • Core Skill
    • New Additional Ability: Surprise Strike
      • Seed’s Basic Attacks (Falling Petals – Slaughter, Downfall, Clockwork Garden – Bloom!) now deal 30% increased DMG and ignore 25% of enemy Electric RES.
  • Mindscapes
    • Mindscape 2 (New):
      • When Besiege is active, that Agent’s DMG ignores 20% DEF.
      • When activating EX Special Attack: Raining Iron Petals after consuming a total of 60 Energy, you can continue consuming Energy to extend the duration of the skill until the button is released or a total of 120 Energy is consumed.
      • For every 5 Energy consumed, the next Falling Petals – Slaughter gains +5% DMG.
    • Mindscape 4:
      • Besiege increases Decibel Generation Rate by 10%.
      • Ultimate DMG bonus raised from 15% → 20%.
  • Damage Coefficient Changes
    • EX Special Attack:
      • Iron Petal Storm → 1399% → 1367.6%
      • Daze (Iron Petal Storm) → 903% → 880.5%
    • Iron Petal Storm (secondary value) → 46.5% → 37.1%
    • Ultimate:
      • Clockwork Garden – Bloom! → 6547% → 6500.2%
      • Ultimate Daze → 922.2% → 894%
    • Quick Assist: Petal Storm → 323.1% → 308%
    • Quick Assist Daze → 121.4% → 115.5%
    • Dodge Counter: Blooming Splendor → 661.8% → 640.2%
    • Dodge Counter Daze → 394.3% → 382.5%

Overall, Seed receives a mix of buffs (new passive, DEF ignore, more scaling) but also slight DMG coefficient nerfs.

Orphie & Magus Adjustments

  • Ultimate – Dance with Fire
    • Perform a spinning attack forward, then fire a laser ahead, dealing Fire DMG.
    • When leaping into the air, a Quick Assist will be triggered.
    • If the Quick Assist is activated, Orphie & Magus will extend the laser firing duration.
    • Activating this skill restores 20 Bottled Heat.
  • Core Passive – Ride the Wind and Flame
    • The following part of the skill was removed: When using Ultimate, if [Bottled Heat] is greater than or equal to 100 points, consuming 100 [Bottled Heat] will grant all squad members get the [Zeroed In] effect.
  • Mindscapes
    • Mindscape 2:
      • Changed from “CRIT DMG +40%” → “ATK +20% for 30s → 45s”.
    • Mindscape 4:
      • Zeroed In duration increases to 18s.
      • EX Special Attack + Ultimate DMG bonus increased to 45%.
  • Hotfix Updates
    • Ultimate no longer consumes Heat when Heat is full.
    • Ultimate no longer applies Zeroed In directly.
    • Ultimate and Chain Attack restore 20 Heat each.

Overall, Orphie & Magus get slight nerfs to buffs and scaling, but quality-of-life improvements with Heat management.

HoYoverse is making sure Seed does not launch overpowered, but her efficiency and unique mechanics remain the same. Orphie & Magus, meanwhile, see their support utility dialled back, but you get better Heat management.

With only a week until Zenless Zone Zero 2.2, these adjustments are likely final, so players pulling for Seed or Orphie & Magus should prepare for these exact kits at launch!
