After teasing it multiple times, HoYoverse has officially dropped the full Season 3 teaser for Zenless Zone Zero, and it is easily one of the best previews the game has had so far.
Before the Wind Rises is a trailer that gives us our first real look at Roscaelifer, the upcoming main city or hub, however you want to call it, and it is nothing like what we have seen before. For those who are fans of Bangboo, you will definitely love this zone!
However, the most surprising part of this announcement was not the city, but the amount of new characters that were teased as well! Some of them we knew of, but there are a ton of new faces, and players are more than happy! All these announcements only hint at a very cool Season 3, both for the story, the setting, and the new agents!
Welcome to Roscaelifer
The teaser introduces Roscaelifer, a floating aerial city that feels very different than what we have had so far. Instead of the chaotic, Hollow-infested environments we are used to, this new area is almost like something much more atmospheric:
- A “home in the sky” vibe
- Bangboo and humans living side by side
- Flying vehicles, cafés, and quieter, everyday moments
- A mix of retro-futuristic design and nostalgia
It looks more like a place you would really want to spend time in.
So Many New Characters
Not only did HoYoverse tease the new Agents inside the trailer, but they also revealed them in more detail on their social media. It is unknown if all of them will really be playable, but guesses are that yes. We already know some of them from the current story, but a few are completely new faces!
- Sunbringer
A legendary figure from the Old Eridu era and one of the original Void Hunters. She is known as the creator of the Bangboo and appears also to be the leader of Roscaelifer itself (but this information would have to be confirmed in-game).
- Remielle Dan
Also known as “Ramiel,” she is one of the most intriguing characters we have seen so far. She possesses a unique ability that can suppress Ether activity entirely, turning targets into black-and-white “petrified” statues. She is also one of the original Void Hunters. We saw her in-game already during the last story, and she will play a big role in the next part as well. She also seems to have links with the Helios Academy and the Proxies.
- Severian Lowell
Seth’s older brother is a high-ranking figure in New Eridu Public Security. We do know a few details about him from Seth, and we did help each other during the last main story, but he remains a mysterious character for now.
- Velina – Head of the External Strategy Department and the first confirmed Wind attribute Agent. She will be playable soon and has already been drip-marketed as well!
- Norma – Chief technician working alongside Velina, she has already been announced as playable as well, and we know Norma is a Fire and Stun Agent!
Now that we have gone over the characters that were either already mentioned or already present during the story so far, it is time to go over the mysterious new figures! Not much is known about the following characters outside their brief appearance in the teaser trailer:
- The Storyteller
- Phoenix
- Sigrid
- Roxy
- Claret
These are likely part of Season 3’s most important characters, and we can expect more details soon.
More Is Coming
The teaser itself is just the beginning. The full Season 3 reveal is not that far away anymore, and we will likely get:
- Gameplay details for Roscaelifer
- Full kits for Velina and Norma
- Banner confirmations
- More insight into the new characters
- New systems and changes to current gameplay and features
For now, though, it is clear that Season 3 is going to be much cooler than anything before it.
