Zenless Zone Zero Just Teased Claret’s Future With Sunbringer

Despite Claret‘s brand-new release just a few days ago, and Roxy arriving later in Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.2, the community’s attention has already shifted elsewhere. 👀

The community hasn’t quite decided where Armorer Agents fit into the meta yet — after all, the specialty is less than a week old. But HoYoverse may already have a pretty significant hint for where Claret and future Agents fit into the future of the game. Recently, an advertisement from the official JP ZZZ X account specifically mentions Sunbringer alongside Claret, suggesting that the two characters could have some serious synergy once Sunbringer eventually arrives.

It’s hard to call this an implication when it is directly stated, if translated, and it’s a huge deal for those curious for Sunbringer crumbs. But there’s a bigger question hiding underneath it: if Claret is being positioned as a future partner for Sunbringer, what does that mean for the long-standing idea that the three Sunbringers will all occupy their own team?

The Official Claret Ad is Pointing Toward Sunbringer

The advertisement starts by highlighting Claret’s new Armorer specialty and her synergy with the newly buffed Koleda. It then moves on to her future team-building potential, specifically mentioning Roxy and Sunbringer, the latter rumored to release as early as Version 3.4. The message encourages players to build around Claret now while looking toward those future team options.

For those who can’t read Japanese, here is a fan translation from Reddit user u/Esagonoso:

“Furthermore, by adding Roxy, who is scheduled to be released soon in the second half, or Sunbringer, who is set to appear in the future… you can expect great expansion for team compositions going forward!”

That wording is important. This isn’t a random player putting together a speculative Claret team on Reddit. It’s coming from an official ZZZ account, and Sunbringer is being brought up directly in the context of expanding Claret’s team compositions.

The immediate assumption you might make is to think Sunbringer will be our premium Support for Armorers, eventually replacing Rina. However, she might also turn out to be the next Armorer agent. Claret’s Additional Ability requirements are Stun or Armorer Agents, which heavily implies she wants to run teams with another Armorer agent. Her passive’s wording specifically states, “When Claret or another squad member triggers Maim, all Armorer Agents in the squad enter Remnant Edge. While in the Remnant Edge state, Laceration DMG is increased by 25%, lasting 40s. Triggering Remnant Edge again refreshes its duration.”

This wording would make sense if Armorer agents, or at the very least Claret, want a Dual DPS composition. There are also cases such as Remielle, who recently released as a Sub-DPS and also plays a supportive role. It’s possible Sunbringer also falls into this category.

Claret Could Be Challenging a Long-Standing Sunbringer Theory

Of course, this still isn’t confirmation that Claret and Sunbringer will be a perfect team, or that one will be mandatory for the other. We don’t have Sunbringer’s playable kit, and HoYoverse can change character designs and mechanics during development at literally any time. Still, it is difficult to ignore an official advertisement explicitly pointing toward the two characters working together. And not everyone in the community is thrilled about that possibility.

There’s already a divide forming around the idea of Claret joining Sunbringer’s future teams in the ZZZ community. Some players are happy to see Claret potentially getting long-term value from a future Void Hunter, especially since it would give her a clear place in the game’s future team-building landscape. Others were hoping Sunbringer’s eventual teams would be built around the three Sunbringers themselves rather than bringing Claret into the equation.

One long-running community theory has been that the three Sunbringers could eventually become three separate playable characters designed to function independently, capable of running as one coherent full team. Claret being explicitly teased as a potential Sunbringer partner doesn’t disprove that theory, but it certainly throws some doubt on it.

After all, if HoYoverse already wants players thinking about Claret alongside Sunbringer, there’s a possibility that the three Sunbringers aren’t being designed as an exclusive package, or there’s only one that’s planned to be playable altogether.

For now, Sunbringer’s actual kit remains unknown, so nobody can say exactly where Claret will land. But this is one of those cases where a single line from an official advertisement can make an old community theory look a lot less certain. Considering how much attention the Sunbringers have already received, players are probably going to be watching every official Claret and Sunbringer mention from here on out.
