Blizzard has officially announced Reign of the Warlock, a new expansion for Diablo 2 Resurrected that introduces the game’s eighth playable class alongside a ton of endgame changes and long-requested quality-of-life improvements.
From stackable stash tabs to fully customizable loot filters, this is one of the most substantial updates the game has received since its release.
And the best part is that Reign of the Warlock goes live TODAY!
The Warlock Joins Diablo

The main addition is the Warlock, a master of forbidden arts that can summon demons, cast destructive magic, or even head into combat himself.
The class has three distinct skill trees:
- Eldritch
- Focused on weapon manipulation and hexes, the Eldritch tree allows the Warlock to enhance weapons. You can move weapons telekinetically for powerful strikes, create astral projections, mirror their weapons, or curse enemies to explode or drain life.
- Demon
- This tree revolves around summoning and controlling demons. Warlocks can command Goatmen for melee combat, Tainted for ranged support, or Defilers that bind enemy souls together. You can also bind and manipulate demons found in the world, teleporting them, detonating them, healing them, or consuming them.
- Chaos
- The Chaos tree leans into magic and fire-based casting. Large AoE fire spells, entropy clouds, and ground sigils allow the Warlock to control space and overwhelm enemies with raw power.
Over 30 New Items and a New “Book” Type
Reign of the Warlock adds more than 30 new items, including Sets, Uniques, Runewords, and an entirely new item type called Books, which act as Warlock shields.
Other important additions include:
- Hellwarden’s Will – A Unique Death Mask granting both Faster Cast Rate and Attack Speed
- Sling Ring – A Unique Ring with -% Enemy Magic Resistance
- Opalvein – A Unique Ring with random elemental damage rolls
- Horazon’s Legacy – New boots in the Warlock class set featuring Magic Resist %
White daggers can now also roll Warlock skills and serve as strong Runeword bases.
Sunder Charms Reworked
Sunder Charms have received an important overhaul. New Latent Sunder Charms drop from Heralds found in Terror Zones. These can be crafted into Renewed Sunder Charms, and they can roll additional stats such as:
- Faster Run/Walk
- Faster Hit Recovery
- Life or Mana
- Magic Find or Gold Find
- Damage Reduction modifiers
This change makes them rarer but significantly more customizable.
Stackable Stash Tabs and Loot Filters
One of the most requested features is finally arriving: stackable stash tabs.
Three new tabs for Gems, Materials, and Runes allow items to stack up to 99. Items automatically sort into their proper categories, and the Horadric Cube can now move between tabs for easier crafting.
Two additional stash tabs are also being added at no extra cost.
On top of that, Diablo II Resurrected is getting fully customizable loot filters, allowing players to tailor what drops appear on screen. Pre-made filters can also be imported directly.
The Chronicle: Account-Wide Holy Grail Tracking
Blizzard is adding an in-game Holy Grail tracker called The Chronicle. This account-wide system logs every identified item and allows players to track completion progress. Rewards include:
- Glowing footsteps for finding all Sets
- A character skin glow for finding all Uniques
- A new Town Portal skin for completing all Runewords
Endgame Changes and Terror Zone Updates

Terror Zones are being reworked to rotate every 30 minutes, with monsters gaining additional affixes that change each game.
Players will also be able to collect Terror Zone shards to manually terrorize entire acts.
New Herald enemies appear within Terror Zones, dropping powerful Sunder upgrades. Players can hunt terrorized bosses and Statues, ultimately combining them to face a new Uber Ancients encounter.
More Changes Planned

Blizzard also confirmed that Mosaic is being removed from ladder ahead of a redesign, with further item rebalancing and additions planned depending on the expansion’s performance.
Reign of the Warlock represents one of the most ambitious updates Diablo 2 Resurrected has seen, adding a full class alongside meaningful endgame and system improvements.
On top of that, if you get the Reign of the Warlock, you will obtain a few amazing cosmetics!
