Reign of the Warlock Overview for Diablo II Resurrected
In this section we will be covering all of the higher level new changes made to Diablo 2 Resurrected in the latest expansion, Reign of the Warlock. This includes a variety of Quality of Life improvements, Endgame, and of course the newest class, Warlock.
Diablo 2 Resurrected: Reign of the Warlock
Diablo 2 is getting an 8th class, the Warlock. A master of the forbidden arts, he can summon and control demons from afar, cast magic and fire spells, or buff up and dive into the action himself.
The Warlock's Skill Trees
- Eldritch
- Demon
- Chaos
The Eldritch tree is used for Enhancing Weapons to use in creative ways. The Warlock can move weapons with his mind for Cleaving hits, throwing astral projections, creating mirrors of his weapon, and more. This class can also Hex weapons to impair, explode, and extract the life force from enemies.
The Demon tree is all about summons, offering three choices of demon to aid in your fight. Goatmen for melee, Tainted for Ranged, and Defilers for binding enemy souls together. Of course, if none of these appeal to you, you can also go Bind a demon you find along the way... and I mean almost any demon. Teleport them to enemies, erupt their blood, heal them, or even consume them. The Warlock has full mastery over the demons of these lands.
The Chaos tree is your magic and fire caster tree. With large AoE fire spells to crush your enemie, clouds of entropy to suffocate your foes, and sigils to lay on the ground and alter enemy states, the Warlock's mind is more powerful than anything you've seen before.
New Items
Diablo 2 is adding over 30 new items to the game including new Sets, Uniques, Runewords, and even a new item type, "Book" that acts as a Warlock shield. A couple of example unique books added include the following.
Other notable items are listed below.
Hellwarden's Will – A new Unique Death Mask that gives both Faster Cast Rate and Attack Speed, allowing a few characters to hit improve both breakpoints with one item.
Sling Ring – A Unique Ring with -% Enemy Magic Resistance, a new item for Magic Based Damage Characters
Opalvein – A Unique Ring with a Random % Elemental Damage, great for most builds in Diablo 2 though it may take a little bit to find the one right for your character's element.
Horazon's Legacy – The newest boots in the Warlock Class Set, boasting Magic Resist % as an affix almost never used before in Diablo 2! This will be a great collection to any PvP dueler for the right match up.
Additionally, white daggers have now gained Warlock Skills and can be used for great Warlock Runeword bases.
There are a lot of other interesting items being added to the game so make sure to hop in and check them all out!
Sunder Charms
Sunder charms have been reworked. Old Sunder charms still exist, but new ones can be found, called "Latent Sunder Charms." These only drop from Heralds which can be found running through Terror Zones. They are now much more rare to find and but these new Latent Sunder Charms can be crafted into something a bit more powerful than before called, "Renewed Sunder Charms." These new charms can roll with the following stats.
- Faster Run Walk, Faster Hit Recovery, or All Attributes
- Life or Mana
- Magic Damage Reduced or Damage Reduced
- Magic Find or Gold Find
The formulas for crafting Renewed Sunder Charms are below.
Stash Tabs
Diablo 2 is getting stackable stash tabs! Gone are the days of Rune Mules and running out of space to hold all of your Perfect Gems. Diablo 2 Resurrected is adding in three new tabs to hold your Gems, Materials, and Runes. Each stack can hold up to 99 of any individual item, and items will auto-sort into their proper slot no matter which tab you are on.
Your Horadric Cube will also move between the tabs, allowing you to easily craft without needing to bounce back and forth between your cube screen and stash.
Lastly, there will now be two additional Stash tabs at no added cost.
Loot Filters
Fully customizable Loot Filters have also been brought to Diablo 2, allowing players to see what they only want to see drop! No longer will those Jah Runes be lost in a pile of Arrows and Gold. With these filters you can be as loose or strict with the drops to enhance your play.

The Chronicle
Too long we have had to track our Holy Grail outside of the game, but today that is no more! The Chronicle has been added to your menu, an account wide Holy Grail feature that allows you to easily track, sort through, and search for every item in the game.
Anytime a new item drops and is Identified in your game, you will get credit. So you can party up with friends and complete the grail journey together.
Rewards are now available as well for completing your journey!
- Find All Sets – Glowing Footsteps will follow your Character
- Find All Uniques – Gain a new Character Skin Glow
- Make All Runewords – Get a new Town Portal Skin
Endgame
New endgame is being introduced as well as changes to the current systems. First, terrorzones have been reworked. They will now change every 30 minutes and every monster within them will carry an added affix listed next to the terrorzone. This affix will change every game, so feel free to avoid one if it seems a bit too daunting. Beyond this, terrorzone shards now drop in the game allowing you to terrorize an entire act whenever desired. This brings more player control to these zones rather than purely relying on server RNG.
Within Terror Zones they have also introduced Heralds to chase down and fight, with increasing power levels and special sunder drops for those wanting to maximize a build's power. You can also focus your efforts on terrorized bosses and hunt for Statues. Combine them all for a new Uber Ancients fight and take on the Barbarians like you never have before.
But Wait... There's More!
And that sums it up so far, but there is still more to come. Mosaic is being removed from ladder and the redesign is coming soon and it looks fantastic. Depending on how well the Expansion does, the developers have stated they have a lot more changes prepared to launch including improving underpowered items in the game, adding additional items, and more!
