The Warlock has officially arrived in Diablo 2 Resurrected, and Blizzard did not just add a new class. It launched with an entire loot ecosystem built around it.
From new offhands to exclusive item sets and Runewords, the Warlock release is much more than just a simple class addition.
Grimoires – A New Offhand Type
At the base of the Warlock’s identity are Grimoires, a new offhand item category. These tomes can roll Warlock staff mods and even come with inherent Fire or Magic damage, similar to the Necromancer Head’s poison damage affix.
They exist across Normal, Exceptional, and Elite tiers, meaning they will scale properly into endgame.
Here are the currently available Grimoires:
| Normal | Exceptional | Elite |
|---|---|---|
| Old Book | Burnt Text | Forgotten Volume |
| Tome | Dark Tome | Occult Tome |
| Codex | Dark Codex | Occult Codex |
| Compendium | Possessed Compendium | Blasphemous Compendium |
| Grimoire | Possessed Grimoire | Blasphemous Grimoire |
Daggers also received special treatment. They can now roll +1-3 to random Warlock skills, opening up more hybrid or caster-leaning setups. Vendors now sell daggers directly, and they have been removed from gambling.
Full Sets at Launch
Warlocks are not starting empty-handed. Two dedicated sets are available immediately as well:
- Bane’s Garments (Normal Set)
- Horazon’s Splendor (Elite Set)
The Elite set, in particular, covers multiple slots, including helm, armor, gloves, boots, and an Occult Codex, giving Warlocks a first endgame gear option right from the start.
New Runewords and Uniques

Several new Runewords were added alongside the class, including options for armor, helms, shields, and daggers.

What makes this release stand out is that Warlock does not feel rushed into Diablo 2 Resurrected. The class launched with dedicated offhands, skill-scaling daggers, full sets, new Uniques, and Runewords tailored to its identity.
For returning players, this is not just a new character to level. It is a new economy, new build theorycrafting, and a reason to revisit item hunting from scratch.
If you were waiting for a real change in D2R, this might be it.
