Necromancer Class and Builds in Diablo 2
One of the original 5 classes in Diablo 2, the Necromancer is a master summoner who manipulates dark magic to deadly effects. Necromancers are a great class for newer players.
This page will go over the basics of the Necromancer class, and also direct you to our Necromancer builds in Diablo 2.

What Is a Necromancer?
Necromancers are casters who serve the light through dark magic. Although frail on their own, they are often seen surrounded by a personal army of minions and protected by twisted walls of bones.
The Summoning Spells tree allows the Necromancer to raise dead enemies into unwilling allies and to mold the physical elements into mighty golems to do his bidding. The Poison and Bone Spells tree lets the Necromancer weaponise the bodies, spirits, and bones of his enemies for direct damage. The Curses tree teaches forbidden words that would turn even the mightiest demons into weak, mindless husks.
What Is the Best Necromancer Build?
All Necromancer builds are fairly powerful. Summoners scale well with equipment, particularly Enigma and items that provide their minions with auras. On the other hand, Bone Necromancers do not have to deal with common immunities, but scale fairly poorly.
Is the Necromancer a Good Class for Beginners?
Yes, arguably one of the best. Summoners are particularly easy to play and benefit from the protection of their many minions.
What Is the Best Necromancer Item?
Although many builds benefit from vastly different items, many Necromancers
may find Homunculus appealing due to its common rarity and universally
useful bonuses to skill level, chance to block, energy, and resistances. There
may be better items, but such items are likely to be significantly more
difficult to find and expensive.
Which Diablo 3 Class Is Most Similar to the Diablo 2 Necromancer?
The Necromancer introduced in the Diablo III: Rise of the Necromancer is the direct translation of the popular Diablo II character. Many mechanics were inherited and adapted to the gameplay of the sequel.
Which World of Warcraft Class Is Most Similar to the Diablo 2 Necromancer?
The Death Knight from a thematic standpoint with a hint of Warlock, which better conveys the caster nature of the character.
