With Season 11, Capstone Dungeons have been completely redesigned. Instead of unlocking World Tiers as they originally did with the launch of Diablo 4, they now act as mandatory progression gates inside the new Season Rank system.
This guide covers every Capstone Dungeon, how they work, when you can attempt them, and which Season Rank they unlock.
How Capstone Dungeons Work
Capstone Dungeons now serve as the main milestone checkpoints for Seasonal progression. Each Rank (from 1 to 5) has its own Capstone that must be completed before you can advance from one Season Rank to the next.
You can enter Capstones early, even far below the suggested level, since:
- Capstones no longer scale with your level.
- They have fixed difficulty tiers.
- You only need to clear the boss to complete the Rank.
Rank 6 and Rank 7 do not have an associated Capstone dungeon. Instead, you must clear high-tier Pit levels to advance.
Upon completing each Capstone dungeon, you will be rewarded with the following.
- Skill Points or Paragon Points
- Greater Ranking Caches
- Access to the next Season Rank
You can track and enter Capstones directly through the Season Rank menu, which marks them on your map.

- Paragon Points
- Greater Ranking Cache
- Seasonal Pet unlocked upon entering Rank 6

Rank 6 and Rank 7 – No Capstone Dungeon
The last two Ranks use Pit progression instead of dungeons.
- Rank 6 requires clearing Pit Tier 60
- Rank 7 requires clearing Pit Tier 75
These are extremely challenging and act as the final test of your seasonal build.
Completing Rank 7 awards your Gilded Laurels, the final Season Rank cosmetic.
Your Seasonal Path Forward
Capstone Dungeons are a major part of your Seasonal progression. They gate each Rank, set clear power checkpoints, and act as your main milestones as you move through the Season Rank system. Once you clear the first five Capstones, the final stretch turns into Pit challenges instead, giving you a better transition from structured progression into full endgame difficulty.

If you plan to rush through the Ranks this season, make sure your build is strong enough for each Capstone dungeon and keep an eye on the Pit requirements for Ranks 6 and 7. With the right setup, you can move through each Season Rank rather quickly and unlock all your skill points, paragon points, and seasonal rewards along the way.
To sum it all up, here is the short version.
- Five total Capstone Dungeons, each tied to a Season Rank.
- They have fixed difficulty and do not scale with your level.
- You can attempt them early if your build is strong enough.
- Season Rank 6 and Rank 7 require Pit clears instead of Capstones.
- Rewards include Skill Points, Paragon Points, and Greater Ranking Caches.
- Completing the Rank 5 Capstone unlocks your Seasonal Pet.
- Completing Rank 7 grants Gilded Laurels.
This system replaces the old Season Journey and gives seasonal characters a much clearer, more challenging progression path. So, good luck with your Rank unlocks. Have fun out there!
