War Plans are a new endgame activity introduced in the Lord of Hatred expansion, offering a new way to engage with past content, and be given even more loot for completing them.

How To Get Started

Players can access War Plans after completing the Lord of Hatred campaign at least once on a character. Upon completion, any future characters will have access to War Plans after a short introduction.

It may be accessed at the new city of Temis, located within the Skovos region.

After completing the required steps, players will need to set up their War Plan Path by interacting with the War Plans table. This will allow the user to choose which activities they wish to do to complete their path.

If you’re completing the campaign and unlocking War Plans for the first time, your path will consist of three activities. However, on a fresh character, your Path will only require finishing two activities before being able to claim rewards.

Completing more War Paths will further increase the amount of activities from any future War Plans, increasing the rewards once a Path is complete.

Included Content

War Plans take nearly every past content in the game and include them as options within your War Path. Here’s a list of all available content for War Plans.

  • Tree of Whispers
  • Nightmare Dungeons
  • Kurast Undercity
  • Lair Bosses
  • Helltides
  • The Pit
  • Infernal Hordes

What content is available upon a specific War Plan is random, although players can reroll their choices by spending points acquired by completing War Paths.

Rewards

Beyond the usual rewards players receive from completing content, such as a Nightmare dungeon, once a War Plan is complete, they will be rewarded with a chest full of loot.

This may include:

  • Uniques
  • Set Charms
  • Unique Charms
  • Ancestral Gear
  • Runewords
  • Gold And Materials
  • And More!

Given the vast spread of loot available within the reward chest, War Plans are an ideal choice for players to gear up and progress.

Activities

What sets War Plans apart from simply doing a specific piece of content on its own is Activities, a new progression system that can dramatically change a run depending on which node is taken.

Some nodes offer a simple increase to rewards, while others can give a higher chance for Goblins to spawn, and even offer the opportunity for a Lair Boss to invade their run, making each run incredibly unique.

Each piece of content has its own Activities, and each one offers different node choices. What might be possible in a Nightmare Dungeon may be entirely different from what is possible in an Infernal Hordes run.

Completing specific content while doing a War Plan will level up its specific tree, so players will need to consider the path of their War Plan when planning.

  • Example:
    • Running a Nightmare Dungeon on a War Plan will give reputation towards the Nightmare Dungeon Activities tree.

These Activity trees will not progress when running content that is not included in a War Plan.

War Plans are looking to shake up the Diablo IV endgame in a massive way, giving content high replayability and proper rewards for completing them. For more information on all the Lord of Hatred expansion has to offer, click the link below.
