This season, Diablo 4 players are heavily farming Infernal Hordes, but not everyone is happy with the latest changes to this content. One part of the event, the Soulspires, has become especially controversial, with the new mechanics causing plenty of frustration.
Why Players Are Frustrated
According to several threads on the official Blizzard forums, the changes to Soulspires have made them more time-consuming and less rewarding. Previously, players could kill monsters around the spires freely. As long as someone was standing inside the spire’s radius, the kills would still count. Now, however, only monsters that die inside the Soulspire’s area actually progress it.
This has been causing a lot of frustrations:
“If you want players to kill monsters INSIDE the Soul Spires, you should spawn many monsters inside them too!“- Adventurer448, Blizzard Forums
Slowing Down Infernal Hordes
Players argue that the current setup often leaves waves unfinished, as mobs outside the spires no longer count, and the spires themselves do not spawn enough enemies to make progression reasonable.
On top of that, when you are in a party, enemies often run after other players, so if you are standing in the spire, but they all run away… they never killed inside the radius, and the spire never completes.
Many feel this makes Infernal Hordes unnecessarily slow and frustrating, especially for groups trying to grind for rewards. You end up getting way less out of it than before:
“Putting the most important season mechanic behind Infernal Hordes clear is already a questionable decision, but making every other event a Soul Spire and not spawning mobs to clear them is plain evil.” – Nouska, Blizzard Forums
Will Blizzard Adjust Them?
Soulspires were meant to add some challenge, but the community feedback suggests they may need a rethink or adjustment in upcoming patches.
It is unknown if Blizzard will change the spawn rates or structure, or if it will remain the same, but for now, players are making their voices heard loud and clear!
