Blizzard Disables Spiritborn’s Trampled Under Foot Variant in Diablo 4


<p>For serious Diablo 4 players, including streamers, YouTubers, and build writers, the first two days since Lord of Hatred launched have been a marathon. During this time, these trailblazers have been busy figuring out how to get the most out of all the new features, systems and mechanics. The question they’ve been asked the most, however, is <strong>what’s the best way to level up fast?</strong></p>



<p>The answer to that question is starting to take shape. There are a number of conflicting opinions, and a perfectly optimized, fully tested solution will take time to solidify, but 48 hours after launch, this is what we know so far.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Finish the Campaign</strong></h2>



<p>This will be obvious to most, but not to all players. If your goal is to level fast, you must focus on completing the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-story-recap-the-only-parts-that-matter/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">main story</a> first. Don’t run Helltides, don’t do side quests, and don’t spend too much time messing around with your gear. Just set the difficulty level to Normal and get busy finishing your fight against Mephisto.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>War Plans</strong></h2>



<p>The main reason for finishing the campaign as soon as possible is that it unlocks War Plans. Once available, this new endgame system is categorically the best way to continue leveling all the way to Paragon 300. For each activity you do, you will now gain XP not just from the activity itself — like Helltides, the Pit or The Undercity — but from completing your list of activities, and the XP from completing a War Plan is massive!</p>



<p>The simple suggestion of, “do War Plans…then do more War Plans,” is probably sufficient for most players, but for those seeking to level as efficiently as possible, there are a number of further choices and systems to consider.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Choosing the Best Activities</strong></h2>



<p>When starting a fresh <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-lord-of-hatred-war-plans-explained/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">War Plan</a>, you’ll be given a random set of activities to choose from. You can just select your path through that tree and go on your way, but you can also choose to reject that plan and have another one presented to you. You may wish to do this if your focus is XP, because the selection of activities you have in your War Plan is one of the most important factors to consider for the powerleveling player.</p>



<p>Choosing a new plan costs one <strong>Mark of El’druin</strong>. You have a limit of three of this new currency, but you earn a new one every time you complete a War Plan, so don’t be afraid to reroll your plans in search of optimal activities.</p>

<p><strong>The best activity for leveling is Helltides.</strong></p>



<p>Among the Diablo community, there are currently conflicting views on what the next best activities are, but Helltides is the unanimous front-runner when it comes to leveling.</p>



<p>Why?</p>



<p>You kill lots of monsters — you get XP.</p>



<p>You open the chests — you get XP.</p>



<p>You almost certainly earn some Grim Favors and progress toward earning a Whisper Cache — which gives you XP.</p>



<p>You progress toward completing your War Plan — which gives XP.</p>



<p>This is all great, but it’s when you begin leveling up your Helltide Activity Tree that things can start getting really out of hand…in a good way.</p>



<p>There are three modifiers you should select first, if speedy leveling is your aim:</p>



<p><strong>Hellmouth</strong> will cause Hellwyrms to spew out Chaos Rifts, Maggots or Bloodseekers. What you want is Maggots — which burst out Experience Orbs when slain.</p>



<p><strong>Writhe and Rot</strong> further upgrades Hellmouth, ensuring you always get those juicy Maggots!</p>



<p><strong>Wretched Vermin</strong> is on another branch of the tree, but it’s worth picking up early because the Demonic Rats it causes to frequently attack you will drop a lot of Aberrant Cinders, which will allow you to finish your Helltide quickly, so you can move on to your next activity, which will hopefully also be Helltides.</p>

<p>Obviously, you won’t always get an ideal War Plan playlist. When choosing between all the other activities, the next best option is The Undercity. This is a good option because you can target farm useful items such as charms and seals for your talisman, but mostly, because it’s fast.</p>



<p>If you’re only interested in XP, The Undercity can be very fast. Just run through each level, kill the boss at the end, and you’re done. This will progress your War Plan and your Undercity modifier tree and shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes. No explosion of loot at the end, but efficient for leveling.</p>



<p>Next of note is The Tree of Whispers. You only need two points invested in its activity tree to grab the <strong>Wisdom of Whispers</strong> modifier. This will give you 50% more experience orbs in every single Whisper Cache you open.</p>



<p>In terms of XP, none of the other activities really stand out at this point. As such, if you have no other choice, pick the one you can complete the fastest, so you can get back to Helltides, The Undercity or farming Grim Favors for The Tree of Whispers.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Other Considerations</strong></h2>



<p>If efficient leveling is the name of your game, here’s what you want to do:</p>



<p><strong>Move Fast.</strong></p>



<p>Temper movement speed onto your boots and even your amulet if necessary. Imprint a movement speed aspect on your boots. Try to hit the 200% movement speed cap. No one ever jogged their way to Paragon 300. Get zooming.</p>



<p><strong>Kill Fast.</strong></p>



<p>If you enjoy the challenge and thrill of being in a Torment Tier that really pushes your build and your skills to the limit, that’s fine, but to level fast, there’s no shame in tearing through demons like they’re tissue paper so you can get your War Plans completed quickly. Nothing slows progress like losing half your cinders, or failing an Undercity run. Which leads to the third golden rule…</p>



<p><strong>Don’t Die.</strong></p>



<p>We get it, offense is flashy, fun and satisfying. Do you know what’s not? Being dead.</p>



<p>Use a Defensive Skill or two. Imprint Defensive Aspects. Consider your armor and resistances.</p>

Why Lord of Hatred’s Fastest Levelers Reroll Their War Plans on Day One


<p>Blizzard is moving toward full co-op support for War Plans, with an early outline now confirmed by a Community Manager. The update is expected around <strong>Season 14</strong>, and it directly targets one of the biggest complaints since the system launched: party play feels limited and unrewarding.</p>



<p>Right now, helping a friend through their War Plan node is inconsistent. Even after a recent hotfix increased progression rewards to 100% and improved caches, players are still running into core issues. Especially around coordination and shared progress.</p>

Just as a heads up, timing for this would be around Season 14. Since details are still being sorted out, this isn’t final, but it’ll generally work like this:</p>

<p>The reaction is split, but leaning positive.</p>



<p>Some players argue co-op should be <strong>more rewarding than solo play</strong>, especially given the effort required to organize groups.</p>



<p>Others are skeptical:</p>

<li>Concerns about <strong>currency cost gating access</strong></li>



<li>Worries this is still a <strong>partial fix</strong>, not full sharing</li>



<li>Ongoing frustration that basic features like “share progress” weren’t there from the start</li>

<p>There’s also a lingering question: is this system designed to improve co-op, or just control how fast players progress together?</p>

Diablo 4 War Plans Co-Op Is Coming in Season 14


<p>Less than a day after<a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/lord-of-hatred-overview/"> <em>Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred</em></a> launched, <strong>Torment 12 has already been cleared</strong>. </p>



<p>That didn&#8217;t take long. </p>



<p><a href="https://www.twitch.tv/mekuna/clip/PlayfulSpoopyDugongPhilosoraptor-y_91SUdPCYd8vWd4" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Streamer Mekuna</a> pushed through the new top difficulty in roughly <strong>17 hours</strong>, running a Sorcerer using his <strong>Shockuna &#8211; Mekuna&#8217;s Static Field Sorcerer</strong>.  </p>



<p>For something tied to the highest end of progression, that’s fast.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Diablo 4 Torment 12 Cleared — Not Just the Limit</h2>



<p><strong>Torment 12</strong> is currently the highest visible difficulty tier, but it’s not the full ceiling. With the<a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/war-plans-overview/"> new War Plans system,</a> players can push things even further by increasing monster power beyond the base tiers.</p>



<p>So while <strong>Torment 12</strong> is already down, the system itself can still scale higher depending on how far players want to go.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Most Players Aren’t Even There Yet</h2>



<p>Diablo 4 Torment 12 cleared in under a day is not something many players expected this early. What makes this stand out is the timing. Some players are in a league of their own. Most of us are still working through the campaign, getting our builds online, and figuring out the new systems, while Mekuna is already done <strong>Torment 12</strong>.</p>



<p>That gap isn’t unusual, but seeing it happen this quickly puts it into perspective. This kind of clear sits at the very top end of the game. It’s optimized, fast, and built around knowing exactly what to do from the start.</p>



<p>For everyone else, progression is going to look very different. Slower, more methodical, and a lot less about racing to the finish line. If you’re still working your way through the season, that’s completely normal.</p>

Diablo 4’s Hardest Difficulty Cleared in Just 17 Hours


<p>Hotfix 3 for Patch 3.0.1 has been deployed for Diablo 4. <p>The headline fix targets one of the largest pain points in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/war-plans-overview/">War Plans, a new activity introduced in Lord of Hatred</a>. Party members were intended to receive a base loot cache and 80% of the activity&#8217;s XP. However, the cache had been bugged and was failing to drop entirely. Hotfix 3 resolves missing caches, bumps assist XP to 100%, and improves final cache rewards across the board.</p>



<p>The Tower launches today, April 30th. Blizzard is reigning in two over-performing builds ahead of the competitive leaderboards going live. This pre-emptive tuning will help the experience feel fairer for all involved. In the last developer livestream, Blizzard noted that offsetting the Tower&#8217;s launch from the season start was an intentional move designed to address balance outliers before leaderboards went live. This strategy appears to be paying off. </p>

Best Diablo 4 Season 13 Builds and Tier Lists


<p>Since Lord of Hatred launched, many Diablo 4 players may have been heads down – slaying demons, playing through the campaign and learning about all the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4s-lord-of-hatred-just-rewrote-how-builds-work/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">new features</a> and mechanics. In doing so, they may have missed some of the more abstract content that Blizzard has created as part of its marketing for the expansion.</p>



<p>Two separate but equally quirky videos, have been released over the last couple of days. Neither of them make any mention whatsoever of all the new, complex and exciting aspects of LOH; they’re just weird, humorous and entirely unexpected.</p>

<p>The first video, entitled “<strong>Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred | Mephisto Musings</strong>” is a live-action short film featuring an actor wearing an elaborate Mephisto prosthetic headpiece. In the film, Mephisto wakes up in a modern-day apartment, pops some Mozart on his record player and proceeds to spend his day doing a few very human things and thinking about what has been…and what is to come.</p>



<p>It should come as no surprise that Mephisto’s interior thoughts are expressed through a deep, sinister voiceover. What <strong>is</strong> surprising is that he speaks in Mandarin Chinese.</p>

<p>The absurdism reaches a peak when Mephisto receives what appears to be an unexpected Uber Eats delivery of “Coffin Toast,” which he crumples angrily in his hand.</p>



<p>The film is beautifully shot, beautifully lit, strangely evocative … and utterly bizarre.</p>

<p>The second video, released the day after the LOH launch, is a parody cereal commercial for “Paladin Pops” and “Warlock Charms.” Set to an upbeat pop punk song with cheesy lyrics, the 90’s-inspired ad features a pair of teenagers whose morning is interrupted by the arrival of Diablo-themed cereals through swirling portals.</p>

<p>As with “Mephisto Musings,” this video, “<strong>Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred | Eat Your Feelings,</strong>” is not full of features and benefits like most marketing material. It’s silly, it’s amusing and it’s great to see Blizzard having a bit of fun with its IP. Goodness knows, after the monumental amount of work the team has clearly put into LOH, they’ve earned it.</p>

Most Diablo 4 Players Missed Mephisto’s Weirdest Moment Yet


<p>Blizzard has pushed out <strong>Hotfix #1 for Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred</strong>, addressing two early issues that surfaced during launch. Both problems were flagged on April 27 and have now been marked as resolved.</p>



<p>It is great to see a fast turnaround with Blizzard and their Blue Posts, especially during expansion launches where stability and access are critical.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Xbox Deluxe Edition Access Issue Fixed</h2>



<p>One of the more frustrating problems affected Xbox players who purchased the <strong>Lord of Hatred Deluxe Edition</strong>.</p>



<p>Players reported:</p>



<ul>
<li>Not receiving their Deluxe Edition entitlements</li>



<li>Missing early access or bonus content</li>



<li>Confusion around whether the purchase had properly registered</li>
</ul>



<p>Blizzard confirmed this was a <strong>platform-related availability issue</strong>, not a failed purchase. The hotfix resolves the entitlement problem, and affected players should now see their content correctly unlocked.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Talisman Tab Bug Now Resolved</h2>



<p>The second issue was gameplay-related and had wider visibility across the playerbase.</p>



<p>Some players encountered:</p>

<li>The <strong>Talisman tab not appearing at all</strong></li>



<li>Missing access to a core progression or inventory system</li>



<li>Confusion around whether the feature was unlocked or bugged</li>
</ul>



<p>Blizzard has now fixed the issue, restoring proper visibility and functionality of the Talisman tab.</p>

<p>Blizzard has rolled out Hotfix 2 (Patch 3.0.1) for Diablo 4, targeting a couple of overtuned bugs in the Lord of Hatred expansion. The update reins in the Schadenfreude variant of <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" data-tooltip-name="Iron Maiden" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DUI_Skills_Necromancer_71.webp" alt="Iron Maiden"><span class="tooltip-spell-name d4-text">Iron Maiden</span></span></a> and the Bramble variant of <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" data-tooltip-name="Bone Prison" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DUI_Skills_Necromancer_43.webp" alt="Bone Prison"><span class="tooltip-spell-name d4-text">Bone Prison</span></span></a>, both of which were dealing far more damage than intended, and corrects inflated health pools on several monsters, including Pangs of Duriel and Infernal Prison. Diablo 4 Hotfix 2 Nerfs Iron Maiden, Bone Prison, and Monster Health

<p>Diablo 4 players are starting to realize a major system change in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/lord-of-hatred-overview/"><em>Lord of Hatred</em></a>. Legendary Aspects are no longer something you can target farm through dungeons. The shift has sparked confusion across the community, especially among returning players expecting the old <strong>Codex of Power</strong> system.</p>



<p>A <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1sxy8c5/dungeons_not_unlocking_aspects_anymore/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">recent Reddit discussion</a> highlights the issue clearly. Players hovering over dungeons noticed something missing, no Aspect rewards. The immediate question followed: what is the point of running dungeons now?</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Dungeons No Longer Unlock Legendary Aspects</h2>



<p>Before <em>Lord of Hatred</em>, the process was simple. Complete a dungeon, unlock a specific Legendary Aspect, and store it in your <strong>Codex of Power</strong> for future use, though some of the strongest Aspects were always drop-only.</p>



<p>That system is gone.</p>



<p>Dungeons now <strong>reward loot caches</strong> instead of guaranteed Aspect unlocks. This removes the ability to directly target specific powers through map progression and forces players into a more RNG-driven system.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How You Get Legendary Aspects Now</h2>

<p>Legendary Aspects in <em>Lord of Hatred</em> come from:</p>



<ul>
<li>Legendary item drops from monster killing</li>



<li>Loot caches from activities like Tree of Whispers</li>



<li>General world farming (elites, events, hell tides, and the <strong>new War Plans</strong>)</li>
</ul>



<p>In short, Aspects are now <strong>drop-only</strong>. If you want a specific one, it is now random.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">War Plans and Farming Loops Are Now Key</h2>

<p>Because Aspects are tied to drops, efficient farming matters more than ever. The most reliable sources of gear now include:</p>

<li>Tree of Whispers caches</li>



<li>Elite monster farming</li>



<li>Hell tide Chests</li>
</ul>



<p>These activities also feed into crafting materials, which are used in the new Horadric Cube system.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Horadric Cube Replaces Target Farming</h2>

<p>The Horadric Cube is now the closest thing to control players have.</p>



<p>It allows you to:</p>



<ul>
<li><strong>Upgrade Rare items</strong> into <strong>Legendaries</strong></li>



<li><strong>Reroll affixes</strong> (add or remove as well)</li>



<li>Influence outcomes using <strong>Tuning Prisms</strong></li>
</ul>



<p>While it does not let you pick a specific Aspect outright, it significantly improves your chances of rolling into the type of power you need.</p>



<p>This is Blizzard’s replacement for direct targeting.  Harder to get the specific legendary aspect you want, but more flexible when you do eventually get it.  </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">So What Is the Point of Dungeons Now?</h2>



<p>Dungeons still have a role, just not the one players were used to. You’re not running them for guaranteed Aspects anymore, you’re running them as part of your overall farm. They give loot, XP, and materials, and they start to feel a lot better once you’ve put some points into that activity through your <strong>War Plans</strong>. That’s when the rewards actually begin to scale. The best play is to use your dungeon keys when the dungeon lines up with a Tree of Whispers Grim Favor so you can double dip, and Nightmare Dungeons get noticeably more rewarding the more you level that system up.</p>
