Blizzard Has Shared an Update on the Hellfire Torch Interaction in Diablo 4

Miril Avatar by Miril

Season 15 added the Hellfire Torch to Diablo 4, which is a powerful Unique Charm that lets players equip an additional Unique Charm while also functioning as a replacement for a Set Charm. This, coupled with very strong affixes such as +All Skills, + All Stats, and + All Resistances, makes the Hellfire Torch one of the strongest talisman options.

However, an unintended interaction allowed players to receive even more benefits from setups using the Hellfire Torch. Players could equip a Seal of the Golden Epiphany, which allows equipping up to 3 Unique Charms. After equipping 3 of them, including the Hellfire Torch, players would then switch the seal out for a Seal of the Diamond Mind, which allows set bonuses to be reached with fewer charms. This would give players the benefit of having 3 Unique Charm effects and a full 5-piece set bonus all at once.

Blizzard posted today that they are aware of the issue and that this was unintended, but they will not be making changes to it during the current season. They’ve also said that they’ve seen the positive reception to the Hellfire Torch from the players and are taking feedback on how to best implement it for the future. Could this hint at the possibility that the Hellfire Torch and the Uber Prime Evils, among other discoveries from Season 15, are being added to the base game after the season has ended?

PSA | Update on the Hellfire Torch Charm Interaction

Hey everyone,

We’ve been following the discussions around the Hellfire Torch interaction that allows players to combine multiple charms, and we wanted to share an update.

The team is aware of the issue and has spent time investigating it. While we’ve confirmed that this interaction is resulting in behavior beyond what was originally intended, we’ve decided not to make changes to it during the current season.

We know many players have spent significant time earning the Hellfire Torch and building characters around it. Because of that, we want to be thoughtful about making adjustments mid-season that could disrupt those investments.

At the same time, this interaction deserves a closer look. We’d like additional time to investigate the underlying issue and ensure that any future changes are implemented correctly and behave as intended.

We’ve also seen the positive reception to the Hellfire Torch itself from many players. The item has created a lot of excitement this season, and we’ve taken note of the feedback from those who have enjoyed earning it and incorporating it into their builds. While we don’t have anything to announce today, it is something we’re considering for the future, which makes it even more important that we fully understand and address this interaction the right way.

For now, we wanted to let you know that we’re aware of the issue, actively investigating it, and discussing the best long-term path forward. As always, we appreciate the reports, feedback, and discussions that help us better understand how these systems are impacting your experience.

Thank you, and we’ll share more when we have updates.
