Diablo 4 Finally Cuts Unique Item RNG and Makes Perfect Drops Easier

Diablo 4’s Patch 3.1 arrives next week and brings with it huge changes to the way Unique and Mythic Unique items work.

One of the biggest points of contention regarding Season 13, as well as the Patch 3.1 PTR has been the random nature of Unique items. Before Lord of Hatred, Unique items had fixed affixes that set them apart from Legendaries. However, since the expansion launched, Unique items have now been dropping with random affixes, making finding the ideal item a longer endeavour as well as more reliant on RNG.

Blizzard’s latest patch notes post has provided new updates to the ways Unique and Mythic Unique items will work with Patch 3.1. Here are the highlights:

  • All Unique items now have 2 guaranteed affixes when dropped.
  • Unique, Mythic Unique, and Iconic Mythic Items can now have affixes altered via Enchanting.
  • Chaotic and Focused Reroll Transfigurations have been removed for Unique and Mythic Unique items.

Unique items will now drop with 2 guaranteed affixes and 2 random ones. Additionally, one affix can be rerolled at the Enchanter. This will significantly cut down on the RNG factor, making it easier to acquire the perfect Unique item for your build.

Unique Item Updates

  • Unique, Mythic Unique, and Iconic Mythic Items can now have affixes altered via Enchanting.
  • Added affixes from Enchanting, Transfiguration, and Tempering are always max rolls when added to a Mythic Unique.
  • Chaotic and Focused Reroll Transfigurations have been removed for Unique and Mythic Unique items.
  • The Upgrade to Mythic recipe in the Horadric Cube now always creates an item for the same gear slot.
  • Mythic Unique Items cannot be used in the Upgrade to Mythic Unique recipe.
