Diablo 4 Gem Crafting Is Disabled, But Your Materials Are Safe


<p>Patch 3.0.3 will go live for all platforms on May 26. It includes another batch of bug fixes, with Blizzard focusing mainly on War Plans, quests, and issues with items and skills. Several expansion quests have been fixed, including problems with missing bridges, invisible Siege Towers, unreachable bosses, and objectives that could become impossible to complete.</p>



<p>The War Plan fixes are possibly the most impactful part of the patch, with Blizzard addressing infinite boss summons, infinite Goblin spawns, missing Grim Favors from Duriel’s Invasion, and a Pit issue involving Choron’s Soul and Choron’s Flesh modifiers.</p>

Next Diablo 4 Patch Targets War Plans, Quests, and Item Bugs


<p>If you play Diablo 4, you should probably watch the latest video on the Diablo YouTube channel. Not because it’s going to teach you how to create a giga-buffed, “insane,” 10 quadrillion damage build (because it won’t), or because it might teach you the best and fastest new trick to get “insane” amounts of loot (because it doesn’t).</p>



<p>No, what this video will do instead is give you a profound appreciation for the incredible artistry, creativity, and “insane” amount of work that went into creating the music for the Lord of Hatred expansion and, by extension, a greater appreciation for every other technical and creative aspect as well.</p>



<p>It’s something easily forgotten. Most Diablo 4 players probably aren’t paying much attention to the game’s music while tearing through Helltides, blasting through <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/war-plans-overview/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">War Plans</a>, or trying to survive high-tier Pit runs, and that’s completely understandable. Diablo 4 is a game about slaying monsters, loot, builds, damage numbers, and the eternal search for a slightly better pair of pants.</p>



<p>But Blizzard’s latest video is a stirring reminder that beneath all of that grinding and satisfying progression is an extraordinary work of art created by a legion of passionate, talented people.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Music Behind Lord of Hatred</h2>



<p>The mini-documentary follows lead composer Ted Reedy and the Diablo 4 music team as they record the score for Lord of Hatred, including sessions at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, a converted old church, now used as a recording studio. The orchestral music for Vessel of Hatred was also recorded at this location. The team returned there because of the “amazing results” Reedy says they achieved the first time around.</p>



<p>What becomes clear very quickly is the staggering size of the undertaking. Reedy says the biggest challenge was “the sheer amount of music” needed for the expansion, covering cinematics, towns, world areas, dungeons, scripted sequences, and boss fights. The production involved over 100 musicians from around the world, including vocalists, specialized percussionists, an orchestra in Nashville, and a choir in London.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Creating the Sounds of Skovos</h2>



<p>One of the more interesting challenges for the music team was creating music that evoked just the right tone and feel for the new area of Skovos. To help give Skovos its own identity, the team brought in unique instruments such as the aulos and lyre. The aulos is an ancient Greek double pipe, while the lyre functions almost like a small harp. These were not just decorative choices. They helped define the sound of the region, with the limitations and unusual qualities of the instruments shaping the music itself.</p>



<p>That is the kind of detail that is easy to take for granted when you are rushing between objectives, but watching this video might give you a reason to really stop and smell the roses, or in this case, stop and listen to the evocative interplay between the aulos and the lyre.</p>



<p>The video also shows how much thought went into the vocal side of the score. Apart from the full choir recordings in London, the team also worked with vocalists Úyanga Bold and Asja Kadric to create a mythic language that felt ancient, maritime, and rooted in the history of Skovos. This language then served as the foundation for lyrics. So, while a player may only half-hear these haunting voices while checking their loot, behind that moment is narrative design, research, language work, composition, performance, recording, and mixing.</p>



<p>That may be the biggest takeaway from the video. <em>Lord of Hatred</em> isn’t just a collection of systems, balance changes, endgame activities, and new ways to become absurdly powerful. It’s also a huge creative production, built by artists, musicians, writers, designers, performers, and developers all trying to make Sanctuary feel alive.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Appreciating the Artistry Behind Lord of Hatred</h2>



<p>The closing section of the video really drives this home. Reedy says that in a world where more and more things seem to be AI or computer-generated, this music is real: “A hundred people coming together to make something amazing.”</p>



<p>Players will always talk about balance. They will always argue about the best class, the strongest build and the most efficient way to grind and loot. That’s the gameplay heart of Diablo. It’s what keeps us coming back, and it’s awesome.</p>



<p>But a video like this serves as a reminder that the game also has a tone, a feel and an atmosphere that we love. It has a soul — much more subtle, but perhaps just as important, and that soul is the result of a massive collaborative effort, undertaken by supremely skilled people from all over the world.</p>

<p>So the next time you’re in Skovos, choosing your next set of War Plan activities before teleporting off on your next adventure, why not take a moment to listen, <em>really</em> listen to the music. While you’re at it, you might notice the artistry in the modeling, textures, materials, animations, and particle effects evident in this one single moment.</p>



<p>Then you might consider that there’s an entire world filled with this level of detail and think, “<em>wow, that’s pretty amazing … now,</em> <em>what shall I temper on these pants</em>?”</p>

Blizzard’s New Diablo 4 Video Is a Reminder That Sanctuary Has a Soul


<p>Blizzard has announced the next Sanctuary Sitdown, a live developer Q&amp;A taking place ahead of the upcoming Diablo 4 Patch 3.1 Public Test Realm.</p>

Blizzard Announces Developer Q&A on May 28


<p>A new event is now live in Diablo 4. The <strong>Compass to Carnage</strong> event is designed to make the Infernal Hordes more appealing and more rewarding. The event will cause:</p>



<ul>
<li>More Infernal Compasses to drop</li>



<li>More Chaos Waves</li>



<li>More Aether to drop from Chaos Rifts during Chaos Waves</li>
</ul>

<p>The event should come as a welcome surprise to players, especially those trying to fully level up their <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/war-plans-overview/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Warplans</a>.</p>



<p>There has been growing discourse within the Diablo 4 player community, voiced across platforms such as <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1tcs4wl/infernal_hordes_is_the_worst_endgame_activity_by/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Reddit</a> and <a href="https://x.com/rhykker/status/2055358570422583507" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">X</a>, that of all the Warplan activities, Infernal Hordes is the most time-consuming and least rewarding. The Compass to Carnage event should provide a decent incentive to start running Hordes, or at least make leveling them as a Warplan activity feel like less of a chore, and more of an opportunity to earn rewards that match the time invested.</p>

<p>As with all Warplan activities, Infernal Hordes can grow increasingly more rewarding as nodes are unlocked on its progression tree. One node in particular seems to genuinely add value — or at least the possibility of value — to running Infernal Hordes. The <strong>Council Coffers</strong> node will cause a Chest of Talismans to appear after defeating either choice of boss. It only costs 100 Aether to open and will drop a variety of seals and charms. Players have reported that Mythic Seals can drop from this chest.</p>

<p>While the <strong>Compass to Carnage</strong> event is live, it should be quite easy for most players to gather enough Aether to:</p>

<li>Have plenty of Aether left over to spend on the Spoils of Materials or Spoils of Gold</li>

Diablo 4 Players Have a New Reason to Run Infernal Hordes


<p>The latest round of Diablo 4 hotfixes brings a fix for an issue where Blood Lance dealt more damage than intended under certain conditions. Additionally, it also fixes an unintended interaction between Warlock&#8217;s Eviscerate Fragment and Paingorger&#8217;s Gauntlets, and more.</p>

Diablo 4 Hotfix Reins In Blood Lance and Fixes Ball Lightning


<p><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/nightmare-dungeon-guide/">Nightmare Dungeons</a> are among the oldest endgame content to exist in Diablo 4, but thanks to War Plans, they have now become a very lucrative source of farming gear.</p>



<p><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/war-plans-overview/">War Plans</a> can help you spawn additional Elite monsters, reward extra chests on dungeon completion, and increase the chance of encountering Treasure Goblins. Let&#8217;s take a look at the different nodes and how to use them to earn higher rewards.</p>

<p>First, let&#8217;s take a look at the <strong>left side path,</strong> which focuses on providing extra rewards upon completion:</p>



<ul>
<li><strong>Waking Spoils:</strong> This provides us with an extra <strong>War&#8217;s Bounty Chest </strong>upon dungeon completion, granting additional rewards.</li>



<li><strong>Gauntlet:</strong> This lets you trap the soul of any enemy you kill while you have a <strong>Shrine</strong> buff active. When the buff expires, all trapped souls are released, and you can kill them again for extra loot.</li>



<li><strong>Nemesis:</strong> This causes 7 <strong>Elites</strong> to ambush you when you activate a <strong>Shrine</strong>, which provides very strong synergy with the previous node, as the Elites can now be killed a second time for more rewards.</li>



<li><strong>Rewarded Faith:</strong> Grants an additional buff when activating a <strong>Shrine</strong>.</li>



<li><strong>Fearless Conviction:</strong> Killing <strong>Elites</strong> and <strong>Champions</strong> grants stacks of <strong>Convictions</strong>, while getting hit by them removes a stack. At the end of the dungeon, a <strong>Conviction Chest </strong>appears, which grants rewards for each remaining <strong>Conviction.</strong></li>
</ul>



<p>Our goal with this side of the tree is to kill as many <strong>Elite</strong> enemies as possible by utilizing Shrines and the respawn mechanic from the <strong>Gauntlet</strong> node to get as many stacks of <strong>Conviction</strong> as possible and open the chest at the end.</p>



<p>Next, the <strong>middle path</strong>, which focuses on <strong>Nightmare Escalation</strong> synergies:</p>



<ul>
<li><strong>Dread Revival:</strong> This gives a small chance for the final <strong>Boss</strong> to revive when slain, providing extra loot.</li>



<li><strong>Recurring Nightmare:</strong> This increases the <strong>Monster Power</strong> of Bosses in Nightmare Dungeons by <strong>+1</strong> while also giving them a chance to drop <strong>Escalation Sigils</strong>. Monster Power increases a Monster&#8217;s Life, Damage, Experience, and Rewards.</li>



<li><strong>Branching Pathways:</strong> This gives additional options when advancing to the next dungeon of a Nightmare Escalation, allowing us to customize our run and better suit our needs.</li>
</ul>



<p>Nightmare Escalations are extremely rewarding, and this part of the War Plan tree helps us with further increasing their rewards, as well as making them more available by providing Sigils.</p>



<p>And lastly, the <strong>right side path</strong>, which increases the chance to encounter <strong>Treasure Goblins</strong>:</p>



<ul>
<li><strong>Goblinfall:</strong> This gives <strong>Treasure Goblins</strong> a small chance to drop a Nightmare Sigil that has the <strong>Treasure Breach</strong> affix. Treasure Breaches are Nightmare Dungeons packed with Goblins. While they are extremely rare to find, they provide a great deal of loot and rewards.</li>



<li><strong>Horadric Hunter:</strong> Killing 20 Elites in Nightmare Dungeons reveals a <strong>Horadric Altar</strong> which, when activated, can summon Elites, Treasure Goblins, the Butcher, and more.</li>



<li><strong>Altar of Avarice:</strong> This makes <strong>Horadric Alta</strong>r always summon <strong>Treasure Goblins</strong>, further empowering the Goblin synergies provided with this side of the tree.</li>



<li><strong>Cipher Maps:</strong> This causes two <strong>Horadric Altars</strong> to be revealed instead of one. This is a choice node with <strong>Altar of Avarice</strong>, so only one can be selected.</li>



<li><strong>Greed is Good:</strong> This gives a small chance to spawn a portal that takes you to the <strong>Goblin&#8217;s Retrea</strong>t upon killing a <strong>Treasure Goblin</strong>. While this is extremely rare, the rewards can be massive.</li>
</ul>



<p>Overall, the right side of the tree can be more RNG-dependent compared to the left side of the tree due to the low chance of Goblin and Goblin Portal spawns.</p>



<p>Whether you choose the safer and steadier strategy of spawning Elites and killing them for Conviction stacks on the left side of the tree, or the more random and wildly varying nature of Treasure Goblins, Nightmare Dungeons are sure to provide massive rewards.</p>

Diablo 4 Nightmare Dungeons Just Became a Much Better Gear Farm


<p>Season 13 has been ongoing for 3 weeks now. During this time, the existence of a mythic unique charm in Diablo 4 has been one of the community&#8217;s most common questions. Dataminers had spotted the items, but with so many high-level players coming up empty-handed, the consensus was that they were either disabled for the season or held back for a future patch. Now, fresh footage and a screenshot circulating across Reddit and YouTube suggest otherwise.</p>

<p>The conversation reignited after a post in the r/D4Barbarian community included a very attention-grabbing screenshot. <p>Some players assumed this was fake; others mused about the impact these items have on theorycrafting. Shortly after, video evidence appeared on YouTube. This video showed the mythic unique charm equipped with the Heir of Perdition buff visible above the action bar. If this is all a hoax, it is done with great attention to detail. While the clip is brief, it has been enough to send theorycrafters and endgame players scrambling.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why This Is a Big Deal</h2>



<p>To understand the excitement, it helps to remember where things stood. Charms in Diablo 4 slot into the outer ring of the Talisman and come in several rarities: Magic, Rare, Set, and Unique. Each Unique Charm carries with it a fixed, potentially build-defining power that no other charm type offers. A mythic tier would sit above all of them, with some unique powers potent enough to reshape a build around it. That ceiling is exactly what endgame players have been chasing.</p>



<p>Throughout Season 13, however, the community consensus was that a mythic unique charm simply was not obtainable, despite being datamined. Several points reinforced that belief:</p>



<ul>
<li>Extensive endgame testing, including different War Plans configurations, high-tier Torment content, and new Bosses, turned up zero confirmed drops.</li>



<li>The Horadric Cube&#8217;s Unique Charm crafting recipe excludes Mythic Unique gear; it only accepts standard Ancestral Unique items as the conversion base.</li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What to Do Now</h2>



<p>If you are hoping to chase a mythic unique charm yourself, there is not much concrete information available at this time. Currently, the only confirmed drop is from a War Plans final reward. The game drops these rewards once you complete all activities and return to Tyrael in Temis. The original poster of the YouTube clip clarified some more information in the comments, including:</p>



<ul>
<li><strong>The charm did not drop from a cache</strong>. It dropped directly onto the ground.</li>



<li><strong>The users&#8217; War Plans are not fully maxed out</strong>. They were at tier 8 out of 10 when the charm dropped.</li>
</ul>



<p>This evidence is a strong lead, but with such a small sample size, there are many unknowns. We will update this post as more footage, drop details, or official word from Blizzard becomes available.</p>

A Mythic Unique Charm Just Surfaced in Diablo 4


<p><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/kurast-undercity-guide/">Kurast Undercity</a> is a great source of target farming in Diablo IV, whether you are looking to stock up on Runes, Charms, Talismans, Horadric Materials, Gear, or even <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/how-to-farm-uber-uniques/">Mythic Uniques</a>.</p>



<p>Lord of Hatred&#8217;s addition of War Plans has allowed players to further enhance the amount of loot rewarded from each Undercity Tribute run. Let&#8217;s take a look at the most rewarding nodes.</p>

<p>First, we go through the <strong>right side path</strong>:<br><br><strong>Jade Epiphany</strong>: This grants more experience orbs as you go through the Undercity while also increasing <strong>Monster Power</strong> by +1. <strong>Monster Power</strong> increases a Monster&#8217;s Life, Damage, Experience, and Rewards.<br><br><strong>Finely Tuned</strong>: This grants <strong>Tuning Prisms</strong> when completing the Undercity at maximum <strong>Attunement</strong>, while also providing another +1 to <strong>Monster Power</strong>.<br><br><strong>Pathfinder</strong>: This provides us with a portal to the final floor of the Undercity when we reach maximum <strong>Attunement</strong>, allowing us to finish the run faster. In addition, this grants another +1 to <strong>Monster Power.</strong><br><br><strong>Initiative</strong>: This grants the Initiative buff to the player when they reach the final boss of the Undercity. If the player slays the boss before the buff expires, their Tribute rewards are increased by <strong>+2</strong>, which can extend beyond the usual <strong>+4</strong> from filling the bar, up to a maximum of <strong>+6</strong>. This is huge for increasing the amount of rewards obtained from the Tribute run.</p>



<p>Next, we go through the <strong>left side path</strong>:<br><br><strong>Endless Swarm</strong>: This causes<strong> Invasion Portals</strong> to appear randomly around you as you run through the Undercity. Killing the enemies that appear from these portals grants attunement, which lets you fill up the bar faster.<br><br><strong>Unfortunate Souls</strong>: This causes <strong>Wisps</strong> to be summoned from the <strong>Invasion Portals,</strong> which attach themselves to you and vanish if you die. Each <strong>Wisp</strong> you save will grant you extra <strong>Crafting Materials</strong> at the end of the run<br><br><strong>Gutter Filth</strong>: This grants a small chance to summon a <strong>Portal Prankster</strong> each time you activate a <strong>Beacon. Portal Pranksters</strong> are extremely lucrative Treasure Goblins that grant additional rewards at the end of the run when slain.</p>



<p>All of these combined make each Undercity Tribute run vastly more rewarding. Whether you are farming charms, runes, or gear, the result will be a huge explosion of loot.</p>

Diablo 4 War Plans Make Kurast Undercity Runs Drop Even More Loot


<p>Fishing has been a surprising new addition to the world of Sanctuary with Diablo IV&#8217;s latest expansion, and plenty of collectibles, achievements, and secrets have been introduced with it.</p>



<p>Reddit user u/BooleanBarman has confirmed that one of the secret collectibles, the Murloc Pet named <strong>Trawghll</strong>, is a reward from fishing.</p>

<p>The pet drops from fishing as a mythic Gurgling Bag of Rubbish and, according to several Reddit users, can be fished anywhere as a random drop.</p>



<p>While some players were speculating that the pet was a reward for collecting all fish in the game, u/BooleanBarman has reported that they did not have all fish collected at the time of looting the Murloc pet.</p>
