Diablo 4 Hotfix Reins In Blood Lance and Fixes Ball Lightning

<a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/nightmare-dungeon-guide/">Nightmare Dungeons</a> are among the oldest endgame content to exist in Diablo 4, but thanks to War Plans, they have now become a very lucrative source of farming gear.



<a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/war-plans-overview/">War Plans</a> can help you spawn additional Elite monsters, reward extra chests on dungeon completion, and increase the chance of encountering Treasure Goblins. Let&#8217;s take a look at the different nodes and how to use them to earn higher rewards.

First, let&#8217;s take a look at the left side path, which focuses on providing extra rewards upon completion:



<ul>
<li>Waking Spoils: This provides us with an extra War&#8217;s Bounty Chest upon dungeon completion, granting additional rewards.</li>



<li>Gauntlet: This lets you trap the soul of any enemy you kill while you have a Shrine buff active. When the buff expires, all trapped souls are released, and you can kill them again for extra loot.</li>



<li>Nemesis: This causes 7 Elites to ambush you when you activate a Shrine, which provides very strong synergy with the previous node, as the Elites can now be killed a second time for more rewards.</li>



<li>Rewarded Faith: Grants an additional buff when activating a Shrine.</li>



<li>Fearless Conviction: Killing Elites and Champions grants stacks of Convictions, while getting hit by them removes a stack. At the end of the dungeon, a Conviction Chest appears, which grants rewards for each remaining Conviction.</li>
</ul>



Our goal with this side of the tree is to kill as many Elite enemies as possible by utilizing Shrines and the respawn mechanic from the Gauntlet node to get as many stacks of Conviction as possible and open the chest at the end.



Next, the middle path, which focuses on Nightmare Escalation synergies:



<ul>
<li>Dread Revival: This gives a small chance for the final Boss to revive when slain, providing extra loot.</li>



<li>Recurring Nightmare: This increases the Monster Power of Bosses in Nightmare Dungeons by +1 while also giving them a chance to drop Escalation Sigils. Monster Power increases a Monster&#8217;s Life, Damage, Experience, and Rewards.</li>



<li>Branching Pathways: This gives additional options when advancing to the next dungeon of a Nightmare Escalation, allowing us to customize our run and better suit our needs.</li>
</ul>



Nightmare Escalations are extremely rewarding, and this part of the War Plan tree helps us with further increasing their rewards, as well as making them more available by providing Sigils.



And lastly, the right side path, which increases the chance to encounter Treasure Goblins:



<ul>
<li>Goblinfall: This gives Treasure Goblins a small chance to drop a Nightmare Sigil that has the Treasure Breach affix. Treasure Breaches are Nightmare Dungeons packed with Goblins. While they are extremely rare to find, they provide a great deal of loot and rewards.</li>



<li>Horadric Hunter: Killing 20 Elites in Nightmare Dungeons reveals a Horadric Altar which, when activated, can summon Elites, Treasure Goblins, the Butcher, and more.</li>



<li>Altar of Avarice: This makes Horadric Altar always summon Treasure Goblins, further empowering the Goblin synergies provided with this side of the tree.</li>



<li>Cipher Maps: This causes two Horadric Altars to be revealed instead of one. This is a choice node with Altar of Avarice, so only one can be selected.</li>



<li>Greed is Good: This gives a small chance to spawn a portal that takes you to the Goblin&#8217;s Retreat upon killing a Treasure Goblin. While this is extremely rare, the rewards can be massive.</li>
</ul>



Overall, the right side of the tree can be more RNG-dependent compared to the left side of the tree due to the low chance of Goblin and Goblin Portal spawns.



Whether you choose the safer and steadier strategy of spawning Elites and killing them for Conviction stacks on the left side of the tree, or the more random and wildly varying nature of Treasure Goblins, Nightmare Dungeons are sure to provide massive rewards.

Diablo 4 Nightmare Dungeons Just Became a Much Better Gear Farm

Season 13 has been ongoing for 3 weeks now. During this time, the existence of a mythic unique charm in Diablo 4 has been one of the community&#8217;s most common questions. Dataminers had spotted the items, but with so many high-level players coming up empty-handed, the consensus was that they were either disabled for the season or held back for a future patch. Now, fresh footage and a screenshot circulating across Reddit and YouTube suggest otherwise.

This story is developing and is based on community-sourced footage and discussion. Drop conditions for the reported mythic unique charm have not been independently confirmed.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Discovery</h2>



The conversation reignited after a post in the r/D4Barbarian community included a very attention-grabbing screenshot. A <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><img decoding="async" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DInventory_Talisman_CharmsGeneric_33.webp" alt="Heir of Perdition">Heir of Perdition</a> charm had been found.

Some players assumed this was fake; others mused about the impact these items have on theorycrafting. Shortly after, video evidence appeared on YouTube. This video showed the mythic unique charm equipped with the Heir of Perdition buff visible above the action bar. If this is all a hoax, it is done with great attention to detail. While the clip is brief, it has been enough to send theorycrafters and endgame players scrambling.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why This Is a Big Deal</h2>



To understand the excitement, it helps to remember where things stood. Charms in Diablo 4 slot into the outer ring of the Talisman and come in several rarities: Magic, Rare, Set, and Unique. Each Unique Charm carries with it a fixed, potentially build-defining power that no other charm type offers. A mythic tier would sit above all of them, with some unique powers potent enough to reshape a build around it. That ceiling is exactly what endgame players have been chasing.



Throughout Season 13, however, the community consensus was that a mythic unique charm simply was not obtainable, despite being datamined. Several points reinforced that belief:



<ul>
<li>Extensive endgame testing, including different War Plans configurations, high-tier Torment content, and new Bosses, turned up zero confirmed drops.</li>



<li>The Horadric Cube&#8217;s Unique Charm crafting recipe excludes Mythic Unique gear; it only accepts standard Ancestral Unique items as the conversion base.</li>
</ul>







<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What to Do Now</h2>



If you are hoping to chase a mythic unique charm yourself, there is not much concrete information available at this time. Currently, the only confirmed drop is from a War Plans final reward. The game drops these rewards once you complete all activities and return to Tyrael in Temis. The original poster of the YouTube clip clarified some more information in the comments, including:

<li>The charm did not drop from a cache. It dropped directly onto the ground.</li>



<li>The users&#8217; War Plans are not fully maxed out. They were at tier 8 out of 10 when the charm dropped.</li>
</ul>



This evidence is a strong lead, but with such a small sample size, there are many unknowns. We will update this post as more footage, drop details, or official word from Blizzard becomes available.

A Mythic Unique Charm Just Surfaced in Diablo 4

<a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/kurast-undercity-guide/">Kurast Undercity</a> is a great source of target farming in Diablo IV, whether you are looking to stock up on Runes, Charms, Talismans, Horadric Materials, Gear, or even <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/how-to-farm-uber-uniques/">Mythic Uniques</a>.



Lord of Hatred&#8217;s addition of War Plans has allowed players to further enhance the amount of loot rewarded from each Undercity Tribute run. Let&#8217;s take a look at the most rewarding nodes.

First, we go through the right side path: Jade Epiphany: This grants more experience orbs as you go through the Undercity while also increasing Monster Power by +1. Monster Power increases a Monster&#8217;s Life, Damage, Experience, and Rewards. Finely Tuned: This grants Tuning Prisms when completing the Undercity at maximum Attunement, while also providing another +1 to Monster Power. Pathfinder: This provides us with a portal to the final floor of the Undercity when we reach maximum Attunement, allowing us to finish the run faster. In addition, this grants another +1 to Monster Power. Initiative: This grants the Initiative buff to the player when they reach the final boss of the Undercity. If the player slays the boss before the buff expires, their Tribute rewards are increased by +2, which can extend beyond the usual +4 from filling the bar, up to a maximum of +6. This is huge for increasing the amount of rewards obtained from the Tribute run.



Next, we go through the left side path: Endless Swarm: This causes Invasion Portals to appear randomly around you as you run through the Undercity. Killing the enemies that appear from these portals grants attunement, which lets you fill up the bar faster. Unfortunate Souls: This causes Wisps to be summoned from the Invasion Portals, which attach themselves to you and vanish if you die. Each Wisp you save will grant you extra Crafting Materials at the end of the run Gutter Filth: This grants a small chance to summon a Portal Prankster each time you activate a Beacon. Portal Pranksters are extremely lucrative Treasure Goblins that grant additional rewards at the end of the run when slain.



All of these combined make each Undercity Tribute run vastly more rewarding. Whether you are farming charms, runes, or gear, the result will be a huge explosion of loot.

Diablo 4 War Plans Make Kurast Undercity Runs Drop Even More Loot

Fishing has been a surprising new addition to the world of Sanctuary with Diablo IV&#8217;s latest expansion, and plenty of collectibles, achievements, and secrets have been introduced with it.



Reddit user u/BooleanBarman has confirmed that one of the secret collectibles, the Murloc Pet named Trawghll, is a reward from fishing.

The pet drops from fishing as a mythic Gurgling Bag of Rubbish and, according to several Reddit users, can be fished anywhere as a random drop.



While some players were speculating that the pet was a reward for collecting all fish in the game, u/BooleanBarman has reported that they did not have all fish collected at the time of looting the Murloc pet.

Diablo 4’s Secret Murloc Pet Can Drop From Fishing Anywhere

The Horadric Cube has been a massive success for Diablo 4, allowing players to fine-tune their gear or upgrade drops into god-roll items. Initially, one feature of the Horadric Cube that some fans overlooked is the ability to upgrade Blue and Rare gear into Legendaries. Now that Rares can drop with multiple GA&#8217;s, it might be worthwhile to adjust your Loot Filter.

Ever since Lord of Hatred, Blues and Rares can now group with GAs, and all gear overall can now drop with damage multipliers. With the Horadric Cube, you can now upgrade lower-tier items that have amazing stat rolls. Plus, the Horadric Cube also allows you to focus your re-rolls, so crafting your perfect end-game gear has never been easier. If you are getting back into Diablo 4, the Horadric Cube doesn&#8217;t just offer random rerolls for affixes like similar systems did in the past. Unlike old Masterworking, you cannot brick your items with the Horadric Cube. But the most important thing you need to know is that upgrading your Blues and Rares only takes 1x Rare Item &amp; 1x Pure Primordial Dust. And for a Focused Reroll, all you need is 1x Magic, Rare, or Legendary Item, 1x Refined Primordial Dust, &amp; 15x Raw Primordial Dust.



So it&#8217;s cheap to upgrade, reroll, and experiment with your items. Diablo 4 Horadric Cube Makes Blue & Rare Items Worth Farming Again

Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred has made a ton of improvements to the overall life and quality of current-day D4, but there&#8217;s still a ton of room for improvement. One such feature fans have been requesting for multiple seasons now is some adjustments or even skips for Strongholds.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Players Want Stronghold Skips</h2>



Strongholds have been a feature since <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a> launched and initially offered players a solid challenge, but the community now sees them as inconvenient roadblocks. With a handful of Strongholds having unlockable Waypoints, having to reclear them every season just to certain locations is becoming a growing pain.

There have been several renovations to similar systems over the past few expansions. <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-skip-campaign-unlocks-waypoints/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Now players start with all Waypoints unlocked</a>, and their class questline is skipped if they previously completed it, plus a handful of other skips. Still, Strongholds haven&#8217;t received any meaningful updates or any ability to choose to skip them.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Diablo 4 Needs to Rework Strongholds</h2>

Alternatively, some players will point out that Strongholds are <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/the-diablo-4-stronghold-trick-that-can-save-you-hours/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">a decent method to gain XP</a> while leveling. But this becomes less and less relevant with every season, as newer and better ways of XP farming come with each season. Plus, the main reason why many players avoid strongholds is due to the unskippable dialogue or story events that happen within each Stronghold.



If Blizzard intends to make Strongholds unskippable, there should be a rework attempt. Systems always go through reworks eventually, especially in Diablo 4, so perhaps there is a way to turn Strongholds into a more meaningful and challenging activity.



For example, Strongholds could become another world activity similar to Helltides or Legion Events. Soloable, but enhanced by being in groups. Either way, the rewards need upgrades, or at least give players who have already completed the stronghold the option to skip it.

If you were lucky enough to get a key to enter Echoing Hatred you might have noticed certain mysterious messages hidden within. After solving their riddle, u/jordani97 on Reddit, discovered a secret cosmetic Portal skin as a reward.

The four secret messages correspond with the four Shrines located inside Echoing Hatred and when each one should be activated.



The first message refers to the Immunity Shrine, which should be activated between Tiers 1-9.

The second message refers to the Artillery Shrine, which should be activated between Tiers 10-14.

The third message refers to the Lethal Shrine, which should be activated between Tiers 15-19.

And lastly, the fourth message refers to the Channeling Shrine, which should be activated between Tiers 20-24.

After this is done, several shadowy Goblins will appear, and when killed, will award the Only The Mad Run Free achievement as well as the Howling Mouth of Madness portal skin.

Diablo 4 Player Solves Echoing Hatred’s Hidden Portal Reward

Blizzard just announced that the Gift of the Tree event is making its way back to <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/diablo-4-latest-season" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a> today! This is not the first time the event has appeared, but it is still one of the best ones!



During the event, every time you hand in your <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/tree-of-whispers-guide" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Grim Favors at the Tree of Whispers</a>, you will get an extra Whisper Cache.



It is a pretty straightforward bonus event, but if you already spend time farming Whispers, the extra rewards are pretty worth it. More caches means more chances to get better gear, crafting materials, gold, and XP without really changing your normal grind. In Torment, the Gift of the Tree also grants extra Cube materials, Gems, and even charms, so you can really farm for everything with this.

The event probably feels best on newer or less-geared characters, since the additional caches can speed progression up quite a bit early on. Endgame players may not get anything huge out of it, but it is still an easy way to stack extra materials at the same time as doing your regular activities.



Gift of the Tree is already live, so if you were planning to farm Whispers anyway, you may as well take advantage of the extra loot while it lasts.

The Gift of the Tree Is Back in Diablo 4 But Is It Worth Your Time?

The first major patch to Diablo 4 since the release of Lord of Hatred included a huge number of bug fixes. Some were small and will barely be noticed; some were a little more impactful. But there’s one fix — a sentence sitting unassumingly in the Paladin section of the patch notes — that looks set to have a truly enormous impact on the survivability of almost every class. That line was:



“Fixed an issue where Aspect of Glynn’s Anvil did not properly increase Damage Reduction per Resolve stack.”



Prior to Patch 3.0.2, the defensive component of <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><img decoding="async" data-tooltip-name="Aspect of Glynn's Anvil" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/aspects/defensive.webp" alt="Aspect of Glynn's Anvil">Aspect of Glynn&#8217;s Anvil</a> simply didn’t work. It was a dead Aspect. Now, it will likely be found on almost every build that can equip it.



Aspect of Glynn’s Anvil can be used by:

<li>Necromancer</li>



<li>Paladin</li>



<li>Rogue</li>



<li>Spiritborn</li>
</ul>



Aspect of Glynn’s Anvil cannot be used by:

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Is Glynn’s Anvil So Strong?</h2>



This Aspect will give between 3-4% Damage Reduction per Resolve stack, depending on whether you have a max-rolled version unlocked in your Codex of Power.



By endgame, most players will have the max Aspect, and also a way for their characters to generate Resolve stacks. A Druid, for example, could equip <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><img decoding="async" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DInventory_Talisman_CharmsGeneric_30.webp" alt="Might of the Ursine">Might of the Ursine</a>, and gain one stack of Resolve per second while in Werebear form.



By Tempering maximum Resolve stacks onto their helm, chest, pants, and amulet, and then making sure to land a Masterworking crit on that affix, a character can easily have over 50 Resolve stacks.



And various class-specific skills will allow for even greater stacks of Resolve.



Let’s look at an example.



Up until Patch 3.0.2, this Druid was wearing a pretty decent Tyrael’s Might. This is a Mythic Unique designed purely to increase defense and survivability. This particular one had Greater Affixes in all the right places.

Not bad, right?



With 58 stacks of Resolve, this Druid’s Toughness was 1,392,840.



If all defensive skills were active and a full barrier was up, that number could rise to 3,020,716.



But what if that Druid was to Imprint Glynn’s Anvil Aspect onto a random piece of chest armor they had stashed away for a rainy day. No gems, no Transfiguration — just Masterworking to get max Resolve stacks.

Now baseline Toughness is 9,085,216.



With defensive abilities and a barrier active, that number climbs to a staggering 20,873,286.



That Druid then went and stood in a Tier 125 Pit and watched their health not move at all, as they just stood in the middle of every monster pack and floor explosion they could find.



That Druid felt good.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What This Means for Endgame Players in Diablo 4</h2>



For anyone pushing high-level content, this is a very big deal. Glynn’s Anvil is about to make so many characters so much tankier. This is great because not dying is great, but also because players will now be able to pivot to a heavier damage focus in other areas of their builds. So, we are about to get harder to kill, and better at killing.



Good times.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Some Caveats</h2>



In a recent video, Diablo 4 Partner and content creator Wudijo pointed out that gaining 12 extra stacks of Resolve on gear through Tempering and Masterworking shouldn’t actually be possible and may, in fact, be a bug. However, this was how things worked prior to the latest patch and nothing has changed. Wudijo predicts that this won’t be altered anytime soon. However, if Glynn’s Anvil ends up making players too immortal, there is always the possibility that Blizzard may nerf the Aspect, or make changes to it.



Wudijo also mentioned that the Aspect may not be equally strong in every situation. For example, it may not be easy to maintain max stacks of Resolve during boss fights if your build relies on crowd control to generate Resolve, since bosses aren’t always going to feed you stacks as easily as regular monsters. Resolve generators such as <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><img decoding="async" data-tooltip-name="Aspect of Dominance" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/aspects/utility.webp" alt="Aspect of Dominance">Aspect of Dominance</a> may therefore not be ideal in situations such as this.
