<p>Earlier today, <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-drops-first-lord-of-hatred-cutscene-and-the-story-looks-darker-than-ever/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">IGN shared another &#8220;first look</a>&#8221; at new gameplay footage of <strong>Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred</strong> as part of their month-long exclusive coverage ahead of the April 28 launch. <strong>This one is a 12-minute video of early gameplay, including a very cool-looking boss fight</strong>, which reveals a little more about how the expansion opens.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mephisto Is Already One Step Ahead</h2>



<p>The sequence starts on a ship heading to <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/first-look-skovos-new-zone-expansion-diablo-4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the Skovos Isles</a>, where you travel together with Lorath. Things go sideways fast. Cultists of Akarat are on board, and it quickly becomes clear that Mephisto&#8217;s influence is already at work, not through brute force, but through faith and manipulation. People are following him willingly, which is a lot more unsettling than anything he pulled in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo II</a>.</p>



<p>The ship gets attacked mid-voyage, forcing you to fight through the deck before reaching a boss encounter. Naturally, the shown combat gameplay feels familiar, but the setting and pacing give it a strong cinematic feel. Lorath also has a lot to say throughout, and the writing is already intriguing.</p>



<p>IGN also announced that they will be<strong> dropping a lot more Lord of Hatred content throughout April, so there is plenty more coming before launch. </strong></p>

<p>Let&#8217;s be honest, cosmetics in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-butcher-seasonal-event/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a> have never exactly been exciting, especially because of the extremely high price they usually cost.</p>



<p>Most of the time, the rare bundles they made felt like a way to repackage the more forgettable skins. You would get a slight discount, sure, but on cosmetics that did not really stand out to begin with. Easy skip.</p>



<p>But the shop bundles this season are a bit different.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Finally, Bundles With the Good Stuff</h2>



<p>Instead of basic bundles with low-tier cosmetics, Blizzard really grouped together some of the more desirable items this time, especially the pet backpack cosmetics.</p>

<p>These are the ones where your character carries a small companion in a basket on their back:</p>

<li><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/barbarian/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Barbarian</a> gets a baby Polar Bear</li>



<li><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/druid/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Druid</a> a baby Owl</li>



<li><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/necromancer/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Necromancer</a> gets the cutest baby Goat</li>



<li><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/sorcerer/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sorcerer</a> a baby Wild Cat</li>



<li><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/rogue/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rogue</a> some type of Ferret </li>
</ul>



<p>Sadly, there is none for the Spiritborn and the Paladin. On top of this bundle, you also have a few other Mega-Bundles that contain skins for multiple classes.</p>



<p>The pets have been among the best cosmetic additions in the game, but also fairly expensive on their own. Now, they are bundled together for around 2800 Platinum (~$20-30), and it is honestly the first time the pricing feels somewhat reasonable. </p>



<p>Similar for the skin bundles. You basically get multiple skins for the usual price of one. If you are lucky, some people also seem to have Pet bundles in their shops, but those are more pricey regardless.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Themed Class Bundles</h2>



<p>Other class-specific bundles go beyond just armor skins and focus on specific accessories for each class!</p>

<p>Some include:</p>



<ul>
<li>Portals</li>



<li>Weapon skins</li>



<li>Back accessories</li>



<li>Full visual themes tied to a class</li>
</ul>



<p>They are not discounted like the other bundles, but if you mainly play one class, these packs finally feel like a nice addition instead of just thrown together. It is a good way to get your character dressed up before Lord of Hatred! New exclusive cosmetics will most likely be added with the expansion as well, but most likely not discounted.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Still Just Cosmetics, But a Step Up</h2>



<p>At the end of the day, nothing here changes gameplay. If you did not care about cosmetics before, this will not suddenly convert you, but compared to previous shop rotations, this is easily one of the better ones. You have more appealing items, better bundle value, and actual effort in content.</p>



<p>Not groundbreaking, but definitely a step in the right direction concerning the shop.</p>

New Diablo 4 Shop Bundles Are Reduced and Really Worth It


<p>It turns out, the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/sanctuary-faces-a-new-raging-fowl-beast-in-diablo-4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">chicken was not just a joke</a>.</p>



<p>After the April Fools teaser, Diablo 4 really pushed the event live in-game, and it is even more fun than expected. Right now, every world boss spawn has been replaced by a giant chicken with its own animations, attacks, and a lot of chaos.</p>



<p>And surprisingly, it is not just for fun, since there is actual loot linked to it! However, be careful, because it is quite deadly, especially if you are in Hardcore! The chicken slew a lot of Hardcore players, so just keep that in mind.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Chicken Has Taken Over World Bosses</h2>

<p>The event is as simple as it gets: show up to a world boss, fight the giant chicken, and get your rewards.</p>



<p>There is no special quest or anything, and the chicken spawns like regular World Bosses, so same timings and rules, it just replaces the usual bosses basically, and you play like you normally would. The only difference is that instead of fighting some demon, you are dealing with an oversized bird trying to stomp you.</p>



<p>The <strong>event runs until April 7</strong>, so there is still a short window to jump in. You can get a few cosmetics: </p>



<ul>
<li>Title &#8220;Bawk Bawk&#8221;</li>



<li>An Achievement</li>



<li>A Profile Emblem</li>
</ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Five Event Items</h2>



<p>On top of the cosmetics, the chicken also drops five exclusive items, all built around the same theme: eggs, chickens, and complete randomness. Fallen Messiah gathered all the items <a href="https://youtu.be/dtMa2Atzfp8?si=oZaninxL4JYK_iOv" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">in a recent video</a>, and here is a small recap of what you can get and what they can do:</p>



<ul>
<li><strong>Coop de Grâce &#8211; Unique Polearm</strong>
<ul>
<li>Lucky Hit: Damage to Injured enemies has up to a [10-15]% chance to spawn a flock of explosive chickens</li>
</ul>
</li>



<li><strong>Cluckonomicon &#8211; Unique Staff</strong>
<ul>
<li>Pecking loose stones grants Henlightenment. The description is rather blurry, but basically it means that when you touch a loose stone in the open world, it will turn you into a ghostly chicken and you can fly around, which is kinda funny. But what is interesting is that the item has an affix with a new effect that we have never seen yet, which is &#8220;<strong>pickup radius</strong>&#8220;. So if you wear this item, you automatically suck in all surrounding objects like gold and more. It also has another affix that increases the Shrine duration buff.</li>
</ul>
</li>



<li><strong>Eggcecutioner &#8211; Unique Two-Handed Scythe</strong>
<ul>
<li>Slain enemies have a chance to lay an egg. The power does sound a bit confusing, but yes, enemies can indeed lay eggs if you wear this weapon. The eggs will end up in your inventory, and you can use them. But be careful, they have a few random effects, such as:
<ul>
<li>Rotten eggs, and you are poisoned for 5 minutes</li>



<li>Spawn a chicken</li>



<li>Spawns gold</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
</li>



<li><strong>Eggis &#8211; Unique Shield</strong>
<ul>
<li>Blocking an attack has a chance to turn the attacker into a Feared chicken for [3.0-4.0] seconds. Basically, this effect will turn enemies into feared chicken.</li>
</ul>
</li>



<li><strong>Cluckeye &#8211; Unique Bow</strong>
<ul>
<li>[25-50]% chance to cluck on cast. Again, a bit confusing, but when you cast a spell, you have a chance to send out one (or three) explosive chickens. The chicken will &#8220;cluck&#8221; and explode.</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>



<p>Most of them lean heavily into the joke, but a couple are really funnier than you would expect, such as the Egg spawning one. But the one people will probably keep using even after the event is over is the Clockanomicon. We all know how slow the Pet can be, so if you are speed farming, it can be a great addition. Just keep in mind that you might lose power since it involves swapping out your regular item.</p>



<p>Of course, salvaging those items will also unlock the permanent cosmetics for your weapons.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Rare Kind of Event for Diablo 4</h2>



<p>What makes this whole thing stand out is not just the chicken, but it is the fact that Diablo 4 is even doing something like this in the first place. Short, weird, limited-time events like this have not really been a big part of the game so far. And judging by the reaction, players are having fun with it, even if half the rewards are just there for the joke.</p>



<p><strong>It is exactly the type of thing players want to see</strong>. More mid-season reasons to come back and just have fun with the game, and get a few rewards on top of it.</p>



<p>And if you were going to ignore it at first, it might actually be worth jumping in, at least long enough to grab the cosmetics before the chicken disappears on April 7.</p>

Diablo 4’s April Fools Chicken Has Loot Worth Farming


<p>Season 12 was always going to be a bit different. Shorter runtime, weird pacing, clearly positioned as a bridge before <strong>Lord of Hatred</strong>. Most players get that.</p>



<p>What they do not all agree on, though, is if the Butcher mechanic should have carried an entire season on its own.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fun at First, Then Not So Much</h2>



<p>Most players agree that the first few runs feel pretty good. New mechanic, different pace, decent rewards. It is a nice change of scenery from the usual grind.</p>



<p>Then, a few hours in, it becomes a different story. Once your build starts outperforming the Butcher transformation itself, it stops feeling like a bonus and starts feeling like something you are forced into for progression. The novelty wears off quite fast.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">This Should Have Been an Event</h2>



<p>That is where the community conversation gets interesting. On Reddit, for example, a lot of players are wondering why the Butcher mechanic is not just a recurring event instead of a full season.</p>



<p><strong>The idea would simply be a limited-time Butcher event, maybe a week or a weekend, popping up every season with exclusive rewards linked to it. A Butcher pet. Themed cosmetics. Something to look forward to.</strong></p>



<ul>
<li>Keeps the mechanic fresh each time it comes back</li>



<li>Avoids the burnout that comes with a full season of it</li>



<li>Gives players a reason to log back in mid-season</li>
</ul>



<p>The &#8220;Fresh Meat&#8221; gimmick works a lot better when you are not doing it for dozens of hours straight.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Concern About Events in General</h2>



<p>This also points to something Diablo 4 players have been saying for a while. <strong>Outside of the occasional collaboration and passive buffs like Mother&#8217;s Blessing, there are just no meaningful events in Diablo 4. </strong>No quests, no exciting mid-season content, no rewards worth coming back for.</p>



<p>A week of intense Butchering with a chance to earn a little Butcher pet that follows you around? Most players would log in for that. Right now, however, that kind of content simply does not exist.</p>



<p>Season 12 is not disliked, but it is bringing up real questions about how seasonal mechanics should be used. If Blizzard ever brings the Butcher back as a limited-time event, the reaction would probably look very different.</p>

Is Diablo 4’s Butcher Better as an Event Than a Full Season?


<p>Blizzard just shared a new short story on the official <a href="https://www.youtube.com/Diablo" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo YouTube</a> channel, and this one is a very interesting story addition.</p>



<p><strong>Narrated by the Oracle Queen, the short story provides a few more details of where Neyrelle stands right now.</strong> She is exhausted and stranded in the Fractured Peaks, her hope slowly giving way to doubt. Meanwhile, Mephisto keeps growing stronger, and she feels every bit of it. When a nightmare pulls her under, a corrupted version of Donan appears and tries to convince her the fight is already lost, that she should just rest and let go.</p>

<p>She refuses. But it does not feel easy.</p>



<p><strong>The short video does not have any new or big plot reveals, but it does a great job building dread around what is coming in Lord of Hatred.</strong> Neyrelle has always been the stubborn, hopeful one in the story of Diablo 4, ever since launch. Watching that start to crack makes Mephisto feel like a genuinely threatening presence again.</p>

<p>With the release of <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/everything-announced-in-the-diablo-4-spotlight-stream/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred</a> on April 28, Blizzard has started to share new details, but this time, the studio has partnered with IGN for a full month of exclusive reveals, with new content dropping daily leading up to launch. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Cult, a &#8220;Saint&#8221; and Something Clearly Wrong</h2>



<p>The scene opens with what looks like a ritual. A pilgrim is here and is immediately treated as someone important, but before being accepted, they must go through some sort of cleansing.</p>



<p>From there, things quickly take a darker turn.</p>



<p>They speak of past suffering and promise a better future, one linked directly to the authority of <strong>Queen Adreona</strong>, who is openly revered by the crowd. There is a strong cult-like atmosphere here, with chants reinforcing her power and legitimacy.</p>



<p>But not everyone is convinced.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Faith vs Truth</h2>



<p>Tension builds when Lorath appears to warn the Queen that this so-called &#8220;pilgrim&#8221; is actually a demon responsible for destruction elsewhere, but the accusation is immediately dismissed as lies. However, he remains calm, almost theatrical, referring to the situation as a &#8220;stage,&#8221; and that suggests manipulation, or at least awareness of something bigger going on.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hatred Is Not Going Anywhere</h2>



<p>The Lord of Hatred eventually steps in, acknowledging his own role in bringing &#8220;blood and hate&#8221; into the city, manipulating over and over.</p>



<p>And the final message is pretty clear<strong>. Hatred is part of human nature, and this expansion is going to explore that head-on.</strong></p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">More Reveals Coming</h2>



<p>As mentioned before, this is just the start. <a href="https://www.ign.com/videos/diablo-4-lord-of-hatred-exclusive-cutscene-the-queen-and-the-saint-ign-first" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">IGN will be dropping new Lord of Hatred</a> content every day throughout April, meaning this cutscene is likely just a small piece of a much bigger picture.</p>



<p>If this first look is anything to go by, the expansion is leaning heavily into themes of faith, manipulation, and moral ambiguity, and that is the root of Diablo 4. It is still early, but this first cutscene already sets the tone.</p>



<p>Between cult-like devotion, conflicting truths, and characters who may not be what they seem, Lord of Hatred looks like it is going for something a bit more unsettling and a lot more psychological.</p>



<p>And with daily reveals coming, we probably will not have to wait long to see how deep that goes!</p>

Diablo 4 Drops First Lord of Hatred Cutscene and the Story Looks Darker Than Ever


<p>You know it is April Fools&#8217; Day when even Blizzard decides to stop pretending to be serious for a minute. For once, <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-lords-of-the-fallen-crossover/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a> is going all in with an &#8220;April Fowls&#8221; and yes, it is exactly what it sounds like.</p>



<p>There is a giant, angry chicken running around Sanctuary.</p>



<p>And no, this is not a joke. Well… it is, but also not, we do not know&#8230; </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bawk Bawk Bawk?</h2>



<p>According to the official post (and a very serious 22-second &#8220;bawk bawk bawk&#8221; narration), players thought they could encounter a massive chicken boss rampaging across the world.</p>

<p>So a huge chicken is out for blood, and it is apparently here to ruin your day. From the preview, it even seems like you can earn themed cosmetics.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Real or April Fools?</h2>



<p>Now here is where it gets fishy. No one has yet seen the famous chicken inside the game. So now players wonder: is it just an April Fools&#8217; joke, or is this really happening? </p>



<p>The official description straight up says:</p>



<p>&#8220;<em>No spoils will be earned… only swift death waits for you</em>.&#8221;</p>



<p>So either:</p>



<ul>
<li>It exists, but with no rewards</li>



<li>This thing exists but is meant to be unbeatable</li>



<li>Or Blizzard is just trolling </li>
</ul>



<p>Blizzard has also not given a clear end date or any details on how or where to beat this chicken, so this is most likely just a massive troll. </p>

<p>We fled on foot, abandoning all that couldn&#8217;t be carried, leaving with only our lives. Tall as a mountain and angry as castrated Khazra, only a fool would stand in its way! We’ve seen the beast re-appear every few hours; it’s flown its cavernous coop and is consumed with carnage.</p>
<p>Nothing can stand in its path. Towns, buildings, roads, if it can be crossed it will suffer feathered fury.</p>

<p>Honestly, the biggest surprise here would not be the chicken, but the fact that <strong>Diablo 4 is actually doing a fun, random event like this at all</strong>. This is why players are starting to panic at the idea of it not really existing, because for once, we would get a unique event, and that would be more than amazing!</p>



<p>The game has been pretty light on spontaneous content, so seeing something like this with free rewards would be a nice change of pace. And judging by reactions, players are here for it.</p>



<p>A giant killer chicken, nonsense voiceovers, and weapon skins to go with it… This is exactly the kind of chaos the game should bring.</p>



<p>Now the only question is: where is this bawking chicken in the game? If Blizzard trolled, a lot of players will be disappointed, and they are going to have to make up for it!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Update</h2>



<p>It does look like the Chicken Boss was indeed real! His name is Chi&#8217;Khan, and he works like a world boss. You still have until April 7th to try and defeat him, but this will not be an easy thing to do! </p>

Sanctuary Faces a New Raging Fowl Beast in Diablo 4


<p>If you have been playing <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-12-best-builds-tier-list/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4 Season 12</a>, chances are you have already felt that Gea Kul is not exactly convenient.</p>



<p>Even after Blizzard <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-12-hub-layout-and-keys-fix/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">added a stash and blacksmith nearby</a>, there is still that one annoying part when you teleport to town, and then have to get from the waypoint all the way up to the seasonal shop and reputation board. It is not long, but doing it dozens of times adds up fast.</p>



<p>Well, turns out that you might have been taking the slow route this whole time.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Surprisingly Simple Shortcut</h2>



<p>One <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1s9bxw7/psa_dont_be_like_me_it_took_me_until_now_to/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">savior on Reddit</a> recently pointed out a small trick that completely skips that walk!</p>



<p>It turns out that you can just teleport directly to &#8220;The Broiler&#8221; dungeon instead of the main waypoint.</p>

<p>The Broiler is located right next to the seasonal hub in Gea Kul. When you teleport there, you will spawn inside the dungeon, but if you immediately turn around and exit, you will come out basically right next to the shop and reputation board.</p>



<p>It sounds a bit dumb, but it works, and it is faster than running up the stairs every time.</p>



<p>Before you try it, there are two things to keep in mind:</p>



<ul>
<li>You need to unlock The Broiler first (by progressing the seasonal questline)</li>



<li>If your game has long loading times, this might actually be slower than walking</li>
</ul>



<p>So it is a great solution for most players, but not a universal thing. It is just a tiny trick for those who are too lazy to walk up the ladder every time. If you are constantly checking the seasonal shop or turning in reputation, it will definitely save you some time.</p>

Players Just Found a Faster Way Around Gea Kul in Diablo 4


<p>If you have been pushing endgame in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-how-many-expansions-will-it-get/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a> lately, there is a good chance you have had at least one of those &#8220;full health, everything under control, and then suddenly, you are just dead&#8221; moments.</p>



<p>Nothing clearly hit you, you did no obvious mistake, but some vague explosion, overlapping ground effect, or worse, nothing visible at all, still managed to one-shot you.</p>



<p>And judging by recent <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1s758tj/please_no_more_on_death_effects_or_overlapping/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">player discussions</a>, this is not an isolated problem.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Deaths That Do Not Make Sense</h2>



<p>A lot of players are once again calling out on-death effects and overlapping visuals as one of the most frustrating parts of the game. The issue is not necessarily that these mechanics exist, most players agree that the game needs some form of danger, but the real problem is that they are just not visible half the time.</p>



<p>In many cases, multiple effects stack on top of each other:</p>



<ul>
<li>Lingering explosions</li>



<li>Chasing projectiles</li>



<li>Delayed detonations</li>



<li>Environmental hazards</li>
</ul>



<p>When all of that overlaps in a small space or chaotic fights, it becomes nearly impossible to read what is really happening. Some players even report deaths where nothing appears on screen at all, or where the game itself lists the cause as &#8220;Unknown Killer.&#8221; It just leads to frustration and confusion.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hardcore Players Hit the Hardest</h2>



<p>This problem is not really a problem for normal players, but it does become more noticeable in Hardcore, where a single unclear death means losing everything.</p>



<p>A few players shared stories of:</p>



<ul>
<li>Dying after a dungeon was already cleared</li>



<li>Getting killed mid-teleport to town because of an invisible projectile</li>



<li>Losing characters to effects that triggered seconds after the enemies were dead</li>
</ul>



<p>That kind of experience does not feel like a mistake you can learn from, and it just feels unfair.</p>



<p>As mentioned, the problem that is called out is not the mechanics themselves, but simply the fact that <strong>if something can kill you instantly, you need to see it coming clearly.</strong></p>



<p>Right now, that clarity just is not there. And if you do not know what killed you, you cannot really adapt to it, so right now, it feels like players are not losing to demons, but they are losing to some invisible force of nature. The real question is, are things like this being adjusted for <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4s-warlock-class-lets-you-command-hell-itself/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lord of Hatred</a> or not?</p>
